You sound just like me when I was in high school. I was PRESSED to get to Howard and all my friends knew it, lol. But I agree, you should never put all your eggs in one basket. You should apply to Hampton as your safety school

Funny thing is, I really am applying to Hampton as my "if-I-just-so-happen-not-to-get-accepted-to-Howard" school

I'm also considering to apply to Howard as well. I got a 2.8 gpa and taking the SAT in OCT. I was thinking about waiting to apply next semester so I can increase my gpa and take the SAT a couple more times but if I score good on it this time I'm considering Early action. What ya'll think? And is their an advantage to applying early?

If you had a 3.4 or better, or even a 3.0, then I would definitely say go for early action but I'm not too sure about a 2.8...you would have to score GREAT on the SAT to balance out. I would advise waiting until next semester or just apply regular admission. But if you feel confident enough, then go for it!

Because of your 3.8 GPA and AP courses, I would say you should definitely apply early action. Jamaican Shawty, if your grades, test scores and classes are similar to danotorious1jd then you should apply early action also. It's ultimately up to the two of you. You SHOULD get in early action but if both of you apply regular admission, then I think you both would get in.

I see all of the bases have been covered, so i am SO not needed here lol. However, i will attempt add a lil 2 cents. Prospestives, please please PLEASE keeps your eyes on the prize (academics) first and foremost. I cannot stress that enough. Not just in highschool, but in college as well. When it comes to scholarships, financial aid options, and even your future career goals....in alot of cases, your grades could either make or break you. Yes, campus involvement is important and also a big part of your collegiate experience, but at the end of the day...you're coming to learn (and graduate lol). K, i'll get off my soap box now...
