Ok, let me get this straight... You are at a community college, about to transfer to morgan and then going to transfer to Howard? Is this correct or do I have it confused??
well to be specific, i was about to sign up for a community college until, i got a letter from morgan state a week ago saying i've been accepted into their pre-college program and that if i attended this program and pass their classes that i would be granted full admission to the university, and i was thinking about going to a community college if i didn't get accepted to morgan state, which would have been easier on me to transfer from a 2 year to a 4 year without any problems, so now my plan is to go to morgan for one semester, and then have a professor write me a letter of recommendation to howard so that i can transfer in the winter of 2009

Umm, wow...you just said a mouthful, lol First, we dont have winter sessions or semesters...only fall and spring. I dont know how you will be able to apply during your first semester because you wont have any grades out yet. You might have to wait until your first semester grades come and apply in the spring for the fall 09/spring 10 school year. Maybe you can get more info from the Office of Admissions.

well they do have a summer session don't they? i can just come in on that, i don't want to risk comming in on to many credits that can't be transferrable the beginning of my sophmore year.

Summer Session is just a fancy term for Summer School. It consists of two 6-8 week sessions and you have to enroll for that during the spring semester. Transfer students either come in the spring or in the fall...I would suggest the fall because you get to start fresh with the other new students as opposed to the spring, when the school year is already half-over. If you absolutely KNOW you want to transfer, then just take basic courses/credits that will transfer over so you wont be too far behind everyone else.

Honestly, that depends on YOU. Most students dont get into their major courses until sophomore year anyway so you should be straight. I know plenty of transfer students who came in late and graduated on time and with their class. You might have to go to summer school at least once, though. And you may want to take a full load of courses just to make sure (this includes 16 or more credits, just in case you choose to drop a class). Transferring is a stressful process but I know folks who came in and did just fine. Good luck!

I would think you need at least a semester, so they can see some grades. And you can transfer as many times as you please. You'll never graduate if you keep switching schools...
