Well Esviel at this point I would say call up HU and ask about the money your qualified for. All the times I've called I have gotten through but I make sure to call after lunch hours or in the morning and I was succesful in reaching who I needed to talk to. If they ran out of funds which I doubt they have so fast then its up to you and choose what you feel is for you but dont let this deter you from going to a college you had your sights set on as your first choice because of this mix up. P.S- Since your grades are so good appearantly there is always outside scholarships...

i agree. had someone told me that two years ago when i was a senior in highschool i would be sooo much better off. i go to small private and yet prestigious school in illinois and they gave me a BIG financial aid packet. so i was like shoot im going to take it. this is going to be great. let me tell u....... i am bored out of my mind here. i can count the number of black people on one hand and im friends with all of them. homecomings are lame because white people and black people party so differently the teachers are respectable but u are always targeted for being the minority student in the class. in every class i am usually either the only black student or one of two or three.i am not saying this to say that predominately white colleges are bad because they aren't. but dont be so quick to downgrade Howard because you got ur hopes up. Upenn and Howard are two books in different genres. but if u feel like u were cheated or whatever then u go with wat u want and come back to hbcuconnect and let us know how "great" things are going in a year

Just because you meet the qualifications at one school doesn't mean that you are guaranteed awards at every other school...

Lol @This topic. I understand you have your opinon and everything Esviel, but really. If you let one or two little mishaps deter from something that you "truly" want, then maybe your didn't really want it in the first place. This is the real world for you, not just living around and interacting withwhite people. Every thing doesn't come in shiny bright package whenever it is convenient for you. Every school's phone line is off the hook around this time of year. Everything doesn't stop at Howard just because you have an issue, cause chances are there are more people having the same issue, if not more. In the middle of the summer I tried calling UMD @ College Park, I was left on hold for a long time and no one ever picked up (2 occasions). I called three black schools, and I swear not more than three rings went by before someone answered the phone. (I still applied to UMD though cause someone not answering the phone a couple of times does not keep me from what I think I will be good for my life.) All you have to do is call at the right time (9:00 AM or around 2:00 PM) and someone will pick up. I got a dingy, crinkled up letter from LSU back in November with no mention of a scholarship. I just got the papers for that today. The last thing I am is disappointed because that's how stuff works sometimes. Maybe it was the post offices fault? Who knows?! (My letter from Clark was delivered in a nice white envelope with all my scholarship and enrollment papers. And my Howard papers were Fed-Ex'd. I'm STILL waiting on a reply from UMD). It's not about being a black or white institution. Some schools just work differently.

You know what I feel you on this because I hate that kind of slack off attitude. Real talk if I didn't get an "Official Acceptance" letter I would be mad and if I didn't get my decisio when I was supposed to I be mad to. I mean UPenn is an amazing school I live less than 30 mins from there and use to run track at they track (PENN RELAYS!!!) the people are very nice the campus, well it's Philly. But just make sure b4 you make a decision to go to UPenn you wait it out to see if they give you money. I guess you're name is just referred since they didn't sent you scholarhip apps... Good Luck though
