I am a senior in high school and i am interested in Howard. I have a few questions for students who currently attend Howard or people who have graduated from Howard.
1. How is the campus?
2. How are the dorms?
3. How is the social aspect?
4. How is the academic aspect?
5. What is there to do in your free time?
6. I want to major in Accounting or Mathematics, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me about those majors and how the classes are.
And any other information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hello, Im actually a senior in high school now but intend on attending
in fall 2010. Im interested in the School of Business ( marketing ) but
am also interested in PR. I was told that I cat really major in
marketing and minor in PR. I can only take classes in the school of
communications for their PR classes, but must maintain my gpa for both
schools. Would you recommend that I have a major and minor? Im really
shaky on what I should do because I like business and writing (PR). And
i was also told that my schedule would be really hectic and stressful.
Should I just major in Marketing and worry about PR later? Give me some
advice please
I am attending Howard this fall.... I unfortunately am staying in Crandall Hall (yes this means im in a triple). I was wondering if anyone knows how much i should bring and what not to bring in order to make it a good experience?
I transfered to howard this fall and i've had nothing but a bad experience. they it's what you make it and that's true but i've tried to make the best of it to no prevail. basically i've been told that if you transfer in rather than coming in as a freshman, you'll have a worse experience. i applied for housing, didn't get it, got charged for it, then found out i had it all alone, they just messed up. signing up for stuff? you can forget that. you have to know somebody or be known which is hard to do if you're a transfer. you have a better chance as a freshman. credits transfering? out of 72 credit hours from my military college only 7 transfered. you read it right. the next school i'm transfering to? only one of my howard classes is transferring which brings me to my next topic: registration. they will **** with so bad with registering for class you'll only be able to register for random **** classes because all the classes you need will be full and instructors won't do overrides. i got my refund check in DECEMBER and they had the nerve to tell me i still owed them money after i had used the refund check to pay my late rent and billls. so will i be there this spring? i don't know unless i can talk to the school and work something out with them then probably not. the admin building is the biggest thorn. if you can deal with their unproffessionalism and closing early, not opening on time, and never answering the phone you might be ok. like i said it's what you make it and i tried to join clubs and go to events and meet people even though i live off campus due to not having housing. but it's kind of hard to do if you're a transfer student. by that time people are set in their ways and aren't interested in new friends. but i will tell you this. make study groups. the 2 -4 people in my study group are the people i hang out with the most and they're the best! good luck with howard. you'll probably have a better experience than i did not being a transfer. everyone says how great it is but no one tells you the real howard experience.
How has everyone's experiance been at Howard thus far?

Um well Howad is basically what u make it...it is really not a "fashion show" as they say. I do think that students that come to Howard and are very versitile with how they dress...for instance you may see student dress how they wouldnt dare dress if they were in High Schoo. I mean i see plenty of students walking around with sweats or their comfortable look.
I think they do it because of the fact that when you come 2 howard u are able to be yourself. You can tell that MOST of the students are here to "make it" no one is constantly saying "oh you think that your better than everybody."
As far as the Administration, I personally have not had any problems with them, I think that you have to just stay on your stuff. But sometimes things can happen to where it cant be prevented. The protest video did not only include the people that had problems with the administration, but it also included those people who hope not to come in contact with faults in the future.
I am a freshman Accounting major so i feel that the School of Business is the BEST. They do not baby you, but instead they prepare you for the "real world." there are TRILLIONS of opportunities out there for you to get internships or a job, you just have to want it. I feel that Howard is a great school overall tho i sometimes complain...but i dont think i would rather be anywhere else.
You should come 2 howard: no curfew, always crunk, and the experience is Awesome!!
They are ok with their financial aid packages....if you are worried about that i would say come!! they try to help u as much as possible with small scholarships throughout the year.
