Question for the NON greeks!

As for me I am a freshman at the first hbcu...being as though I am the first one in my family to attend college I have no family members who are member of soroity xyz...but I know why I want to join the soroity that I am interested in. The soroity promotes the advancement of women of color as a whole and started one of the first programs in africa to help feed, provide clothes and fund education for the people of africa. With this program I will be able to complete some of the work that I want to do in africa upon graduation. Another reason why I want to join are the many women that paved the way for the organztion are some of the most world renoned leaders of this day and age.

I have no family members in any org. but I have a friend who graduated from my old college who is a Que and who would always talk about the activities that they would do in the community. I was born in raised in CA and didn't really know much about HBCUs or Greek orgs. My homegirl at USNA would always talk about her friends org. and it just got me really interested. I wanna be able to be part of a family that shares a bond with me about the community and being of service. That who I know will always be there for me when I need them. That just loves to help others. Thats why I want to join. I'm def. taking my time doing my research tho. Because I do want it to be a lifetime bond. Not one that just ends when I graduate.

In continuation to my previous response. I initially started researching a different sorority than the one i'm interested in, but after a LOT of researsh on ALL the orgs I just felt that the one I'm interested in called my name I guess. It was everything I was looking for. And well, I will def stay involved in it, if i get accepted, after I graduate.
