Uppity Negro... :roll: I've noticed that this is the latest "fashion" trend at HU. I know that perspective freshmen have prolly never heard of it before, but how do the current Howardites feel about it? I know its just clothes, but do you feel it sends a positive messege? I'll post my opinions later...

i definatley feel u...i kno i copped my pretty torqoise blue "uppity negress" shirt b4 i left...i love it and wear once in a while when i chill...i like the way u explained it gurl..."yea im uppirty, AND?" :lol:

I saw a buncha uppity negress shirts when i went to visit Dillard and I liked em and i was wondering where i coulda got mine. But now that I think of it all the people wearing them didn't look like they coulda told me what an uppity negro was the whole trend just seems like it'll become like the Jesus and Mary Homeboy shirts (and i admit I have one) or the Viva Che shirts... people just start to wear them because everyone has one. And that is kinda funny about the white people... kinda reminds me of when I went to school one day with a black panthers t-shirt on lol.

I think the idea behind the line is a good one. My whole thing is their sincerity. If they truly believe what they are portraying then good for them. At the same time if they are just tryna start the next fad and feed off the Afro-Pride movement...they need to be shot :twisted:
