Damn, that's truly what's going on. But why is there SELF- hatred amongst black men and women?

Why was this bullisht even published? Hatred of Black women in Hip-hop? LOL! Dude, please... I would have an ounce more respect for the article if the author would have posed solutions to the "problem" instead of posing questions. Oh, wait...that was goal for 2005
LOL... I feel ya. We've all had this conversation a million times, with not much of a productive result. The Brotha does raise a good question, though. Actually, two questions. 1. Why do Black homicides, missing persons, etc. go unpublicized, or not get a lot of popular support? 2. How do we address misogyny in our communities? I'll attempt to answer... 1. We already know why. The "mainstream public" doesn't care because they already expect crime to happen in our community, and it happens frequently. The same reason that White homeless and poor don't get the same level of visibility. The thing we always hear when a crime takes place in a wealthy suburban neighborhood is "I didn't expect it to happen here". What do we do about it? We must become as concerned about losing one of our own, as other communities do about losing one of their own. Do we organize search parties, raise funds, create interest groups etc. when these tragedies occur in our community? When we do, we'll command the recognition and resources these people deserve. 2. By showing it with our actions, and voicing our opposition. When the women at Spelman spoke up, people listened. It wasn't an immediate solution to the problem, but people listened. As long as we continue to allow others to produce our music, buy from those that exploit our communities economically, and accept trash because it's catchy or has a "nice beat" we'll continue to reap what we sow. Just my $0.02.
