I thought NSU (and soon FAMU) is still the only on campus, school owned HBCU stadium over 30,000? Im not sure..... but I do know this much, Armstrong may not be 30K but its attractive (an entire Bricked in stadium is expensive , but will last 4ever ) has that up close home atmosphere feel without being too small, and most importantly, its .........OURS, BUILT FOR US, BY US.

WELL THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI BUILT VETERANS MEMORIAL IN THE 50'S FOR MISSISSIPPI STATE, OLE MISS, SOUTHERN MISS, AND JACKSON STATE TO USE...... IT SAT 60,000 (IT NOW SITS 66,000).. BUT DURING THE 60'S THE OTHER 3 ALL BUILT THEIR OWN STADIUM BECAUSE THEY DID NOT WANT TO TRAVEL TO JACKSON... SO WE WERE THE ONLY ONES USING THE STADIUM BESIDES HIGH SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES...... THE DEBATE CAME UP TO DESTROY THE STADIUM BUT THE LEGISLATURE RULED THAT IF THEY DESTROYED VETERANS MEMORIAL THEY WOULD HAVE BUILD US A STADIUM OF EQUAL SIZE..... THEY OFFERED TO DO SO BUT THE SCHOOL FOUND IT WOULD BE CHEAPER FOR US TO RENT THE STADIUM AND MAKE THE STATE SPEND MILLIONS ON RENOVATIONS EVERY YEAR THAN FOR US TO OWN A STADIUM AND HAVE TO SPEND MILLIONS ON RENOVATING IT EVERY YEAR..... AT ANY TIME WE CAN GET A STADIUM BUILT BUT IS JUST WANT MAKE $EN$E... SO THERE FOR WE SAVE A OVER A MILLION DOLLARS BUY RENTING.......OUR NAME IS ON THE SCOREBOARD AND ALL OVER THE STADIUM....

SLOPPY SECONDS.......................................................................sike naw...I see the logic in it. Hopefully the money is going to something better. But I'm still sticking with what HIU has instilled in us....ownership is always better.

****@ sloppy seconds. But seriously I agree, the logic makes sense. Let the State of Mississippi pay for it! I dont blame them (JSU). But it still means though JSU doesn't officially "own it", just lay claim to it, nuthin wrong with that tho, but there is a difference.

Cosign....even though the state spends money on renovating the stadium, I know there is no way Jackson State can get all the money that is spent their, like from ticket sales, vendors, etc. Now my school and Carlene's school is owned by us, so we get ALL the money

You get the money...but then end up giving some of it back to pay rent.....basically recycling the money...and not getting as much profit

Exactly...but I would just like to see some kind of figure on how much profit J-State makes on the stadium...that would be interesting to me

Obviously the size of the stadium, whether its yours or not, has nothing to do with whether or not the team is any good...
