nah, it's like this.... people are always striving to be perfect.... Michael (Jackson) was a fine one back in the day....look what's happened now.... Vivica was a classic, flawless diva on Soul Food.....no comment now :? now Beyonce.... I mean....it's like.....man, I don't know - I'm at a lost for words.....no I'm not: do you know how many people probably would have **** to have their looks before....and these stars obviously felt they didn't look good enough?!?! I mean, it's one thing to alter yourself because you were completely unattractive (but even then - you're still God's creation)....but these people were ALREADY NEAR PHYSICALLY PERFECT....now they're just another face....well, sorta (in Michael's case :?).... And then....even if their change wouldn't be so damn obvious!!! Halle Berry got hers done (if you notice the difference between her in Boomerang and now)...but the change was subtle....and she is definitely a gorgeous beauty now.....as she was before.... So, anyway...those are my thoughts.....

Like you said obviously they didnt feel that they were already near physically perfect. They have the money to do it, so they did. It is really easy to say that you would never, but if you are in the limelight every day like they are, you would be surprised as hell as to what kind of insecurities that in itself could bring upon a person. It's hella easy to judge when not in that position.

^^^but who defines true, genuine beauty? Anyone can obtain the European beauty, if they want.... But why does THAT have to be considered "perfect"? Why wasn't the nose she had before perfect? It was perfect....perfect for her.... Not everyone is supposed to look like this supposed image everyone has in their head for beauty... That's why God made everyone different.... If he wanted her to have a narrow, "White"-looking nose, he would have gave it to her.... She had come that far with the nose she had....and, in my opinion, it's always a person's imperfections that make them "perfect" or beautiful.... ...Beyonce starts with the nose...and before you know it, she's going to have gone off on a tangent, like someone already mentioned....I mean, look at Lil' Kim.....there was a point where she really could have just stopped.....same with Michael Jackson....but they say that once you start getting the cosmetic surgery, you just can't stop.... That's all my point....even Halle Berry STILL has so many insecurities, even though so many people consider her one of the most beautiful human beings on earth.....but you just have to deal with them and look at the overwhelming positives.....it's called LIFE. And on a final note...imagine if everyone in the entire world had the money to achieve this so-called "perfect look"....everybody would look the exact same, and I'm TELLING you...everyone would look White....because, whether we want to admit it or not, that is tragically what we consider to be superior beauty and perfection.

I'd have to agree with you that our society is way too focused on Eurocentric standards of beauty. I would also have to agree with DCHUNNY and Slim in that it is her body and she does have the right to change it however she sees fit. It's really not our business. With that said, my opinion is that her new nose looks like sh*t. I have always agreed with the media in that Beyonce' is beautiful, especially the old beyonce' (before the SUPA weaves). I guess it goes to show you that no matter how much we think a person has it all together we never REALLY know what insecurities they are hiding.

^^that's very true...about it being her body and none of our business.... But you know that, while a lot of these celebrities do NOT want to be anybody's rolemodel...some of them actually do..... And I'm just saying....if everytime we turn around, a Black woman or Black man is having themselves permenantly altered in their physical aspects......to ALways fit this bizarre idea of "perfection" (which I already mentioned is heavily concentrated in Caucasian or European-type features)....then little Black girls and boys are going to grow up and think that being and looking Black is not okay and less than wonderful..... I mean, I used to look at Vivica and think dang - that is really one beautiful, strong, and capable Black woman.... It's like, before we know it, all of the Black women in the business are going to think this is the "next step of their celebrity status"....just like our belief that many Black men think getting with/marrying a White non-Black woman is a step (not saying I believe this - just staying what I've frequently heard).... Why feed into this propoganda - this BULLSH*T?!?! I mean, if I were Beyonce, I would have looked at Michael.....Lil' Kim....Vivica....and said, you know what? I'm not gonna go down that road because I'm not perfect, but I'm fine the way I am (just like they were fine the way they were)....and if I get that work done, I STILL won't be perfect (NOBODY EVER WILL, PEOPLE!!! THERE'S NO SUCH THING!!!)....so let ME stop TRIPPIN'.... lol, but I'm not Beyonce....and ya'll are right, that was her choice......I just hope this will not become a trend among the Black celebrities...among the Black community....it is very unnecessary and pointless..... Imagine if 50 Cent got a nose job.....or Tupac....or Biggie.....I wonder if ya'll would say the same thing......

oh yes, and let's not forget to mention the fact that, aside from the fact that they say cosmetic surgery is addictive....even after all of the surgeries Michael Jackson and Lil' Kim have had....they STILL aren't secure, content with the way they look, or even happy, for that matter. That says it all right there.

^^^believe me girl i feel ya. But sometimes i just have to say "To each his own". Oh and i'm glad you mentioned that about biggie, Tupac and 50 Cents.. It seems to me that in our society the beauty standards are much more strict for women. Men don't have to be attractive to be accepted (ex:Biggie and the Whole Cash Money crew). You don't find NEARLY as many men who are that self conscious of their appearance that they would get plastic surgery. Although your ocasional Michael Jackson may slip through. Women are judged based on their appearance WAY more than men are.
