[NEW YORK — Grammy-winning singer Erykah Badu gave birth to a daughter, Puma, earlier this month at her home in Dallas, with friends and family present, People magazine reported Thursday.
The baby was born on July 5, Badu's publicist confirmed to the magazine. Badu, 33, has declined to name the father. "She is a big baby," Badu's representative was quoted as saying.
Puma joins brother, Seven, 6, whose father is Andre Benjamin (Andre 3000 of the hip-hop group OutKast).
Badu's publicist told People that Puma isn't named for the athletic shoe: "Erykah is more down to earth than that. It's more likely that the name has meaning, that it's something natural."
The singer's latest album, "Worldwide Underground," was released in 2003]
Is it me, but Im really not feeling the name Puma, and I thought that the baby daddy was that west coast rapper the DOC.

^^^ And you know once celebs start doing stuff....everyone else automatically jumps on the band wagon... E Badu is my girl...Seven had a nice little meaning behind it...but PUMA DAWG!!!

I was feelin' the name Denim, actually...& also, Seven is str8...
but Puma....Lawwwwd....
i still love her as an artist, tho, 'cuz Baduizm is STILL one of my all-time fav. albumz...
& yea, last I heard, the father is that Westcoast rapper (not very known)...who's name i've forgotten...
