Why vote?

Okay, my ex-boyfriend and I are still friends, so we talk pretty often. I made a comment about the up-coming election and he blew me off (as in completely ignored me and changed the subject). So I asked him was he planning on voting and do you know what this dude told me? He said he doesn't care about the elections because they don't affect him. I tried to explain but I don't think he got it. So my quetion to you guys is how in the world do I get the point across to him that this issue is serious and could have a major impact on the rest of his life? :? :? :?

I would say alot of that money goes to HBCUs. Alot of students at these schools obtain some kind of money from the gov't be it loans or grants. How many people can u think of that get the Pell grant at least? I'll get back 2 tha voting thing.

Basically, if he wants to most likely get drafted then he can go ahead & forget about votin, cause that is what Bush will be doin (bringin back the draft). If he likes his freedom, vote Kerry. Either way, there are a plenty of other issues that will be affecting him so he needs to vote.

Wow! You know it's sad to say but there are so many of our people, young and old who have been misinformed into believing that their vote won't count or that it will not affect them. This is why I can't wait to get to school in order to do something on the democratic party. (I would try something here at home but I'm about to leave Monday) Why don't the two of you watch Farenheit 9-11. It tells you a lot about the Bush family and ties he had with the bin Ladens. And Bush's administration is not helping our people out at all. Don't be fooled. I'm not so much for Kerry either but it's the better of the two worsts, I guess. Bush-No child left a dime... After he watches the movie voting might interest him, become informed. Knowledge is power!
