Dawson's Creek was taped at a soundstage in Wilmington, and in later years, that Boston University was actually Duke U! 1) The football movie, the Program was taped at Duke! 2) NCCU has several platinum performers and producers (9th Wonder, Mike City, Sunshine Anderson, etc) to count as alumni 3) CIAA Tournament, which will either be in Raleigh or Charlotte 4) Shaw and NCCU graduate Willie Gary is the richest A-A lawyer in the country 5) NCCU grad, Bishop Eddie Long is head of one of the largest congregations in Georgia 6) Nearly 40,000 HBCU students, and nearly 55,000 black students overall 7) The I-85 and I-95 Corridors (Atlanta 3 hours from Charlotte, DC 4 hours from the Triangle) 8) Ethnically/Culturally diverse population, without most of the racial tension 9) Less Crime than most areas of the country 10) Superstars always visiting campuses

Hmmm... there's a lot that I can say about North Carolina A&T, but its hard to just list. Simply put, its an excellent school especially as far as HBCUs are concerned. We all have our gripes and problems, but I don't think that you'll regret the descicion if you do come here. If you can stand the price, the student life here has actually gotten BETTER believe it or not. The dorms that have been put up are better than the ones they replace, but its all a matter of if the person before you took care of it. You'll find people from every walk regardless of what people tell you. I'm a bougie person myself and even I found my own little niche of people myself. In some cases you might find it more cost effective, being an out of state student, to get an apartment, in which case there are still many student housing options available for around $350 - $450 a month which usually includes utilities. As far as the Animal Science Department, its actually a really good school. You don't hear about it so much, because its dwarfed by the engineering and business department, but I believe its one of the best you'll find, especially amongst black colleges. They have all the necessary facilities to do any kind of research or study. In addition, the partnership with North Carolina State University gives you the opportunity to study at a larger and more refined school as well as a leg up if you want to go into veterinary medicine. Keep in mind that its a rather rigoruoe field and will keep you busy, but not so much that you can't have a personal life. The setting of A&T has also gotten much better since I've been here. We're not situated in the worst section of town like many HBCUs. We're actually a couple of blocks from an execllent dowtown nightlife. The worse sections of Greensboro are actually far enough away that you don't have to worry about them. You'll also find that A&T is in close proximity to other institutions of higher learning, among those being other HBCUs such as North Carolina Central University, Winston - Salem State University, Johnson C. Smith Univeristy, and Bennett College for Women. There are also a number of majority school in the viscinity, such as UNC Greensboro, UNC Chapel Hill, Duke University, Elon University, and Wake Forest University, as well as other smaller colleges and universities. If you go to the North Carolina A&T State University website (www.ncat.edu) you should be able to send for a free CD rom that should have a lot of information on it as well as exploring the university website itself. Hope I've been of some help. 8)
