Actor Jim Carrey Becomes U.S. Citizen Wed Oct 13, 7:44 PM ET LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Canadian-born comic actor Jim Carrey has become a U.S. citizen and said his decision to pursue dual citizenship was based on his love for the country that helped him attain his dream. Canadian Press Photo "This country has helped define me and make my dreams come true," said Carrey, 42, in a statement. Nevertheless the star of films like "The Mask," "Bruce Almighty" and the upcoming "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events," professed his pride at being born a Canadian. "I have no intention of giving up my Canadian heritage, and all those who loved and supported me," said Carrey. "My upbringing in Canada made me the person I am. I will always be proud to be a Canadian," he added. Carrey, who made a name for himself doing outrageous antics on the early 1990s television series "In Living Color," became an official U.S. citizen on Oct. 7. but only Jameya makes this into a major news headline.... this should've gone into the movies forum... (thinking) wait till Barry Bonds hits #715.... i'm posting right here

Ummm... actually... there's a whole lot of people that are not only the first names that you think of in comedy, but Hollywood in general that are from Canada.

yeah, i know that....but to be in the bizness for so long and to be such a BIG name in the bizness on top of that.... i mean, all this time, not a citizen....would've been different if he would've became one like 10 years ago....but the fact that he of all people is just now becoming one....that is what is interesting...
