I know this thread is a few years old, but in case someone else passes through....
I think that particular girl was having issues, but I'd love to hear of anyone's experiences with Kitty (the nickname the ghost bore when I was in school 1988-1992). I had two personal experiences that I can't explain away with bad pipes or worn-out blinds. I'm going to try to start gathering up documentation. I do know a dormmate of mine in Queen St. tried to research the historical record and couldn't come up with a Native American student living in VC at the time the woman was supposed to have hung herself. However, NA students did live in Wigwam. Nor could she find record of a ****. However, given the era in which this was supposed to have happened, I don't think the shcool would've let the media blare any **** loud and wide. Post here, or PM or email me.

The whole story goes...
There was a girl who lived on the top floors of VC either F-Hall or G-Hall I can't remember (I'm gonna go with G since I stayed on F lol) she found out she was pregnant just before Thanksgiving break...so she couldn't go home because her parents would be ashamed of her...so what she did was she pulled the fire alarm. So everyone left the building and those that left their doors opened she went in their rooms and took their chairs made a circle and hung her self in the middle of the circle.
Also there is another story that happened my freshman year and their was a police officer who was going around stealing computers and things from S&T and the library since he had keys to access all the buildings...eventually someone found out about it and he was facing serious charges and losing his job...so he hung himself behind the houses that are across the street from Holly Tree Annex by the back gate.
The story for "Kitty" as it was told back then was she was a Native American girl who hung herself in the attic of VC when it was still being used for dorm rooms. That puts this story -- if not an actual person -- back in the early 1900's. Her ghost is supposed to still reside in the attic and was the supposed reason why use of the attic rooms was discontinued.
Sadly, a number of girls have had unwanted pregnancies during their stay at Hampton. Frehsman year, in VC, one girl was said to have given birth and hidden the newborn in her closet. Another girl my senior year was visiting the campus, had hidden her pregnancy, gave birth in the third floor restroom of Queen St., wrapped the baby in a trash bag and placed it outside on the window ledge. She did jail time. I forget what happened to the other girl.
