january 20th is the presidential inauguration, in DC that is a huge day for us Howard students ESPECIALLY and the international A.N.S.W.E.R group is going to schedule a NATIONAL march and protest on that day! !!!! as bush is coming in his caravan to get sworn in and it will be to protest the war in iraq, to bring our troops home, and the racism and discrimination that bush has so blatantly shown towards certain minority groups...including us african americans....though you may have voted for bush YOU DO NOT HAVE TO stand for this war! or his treatment of the citizens that make up this great country...if you want to travel to DC to participate in this historic event go here for more info http://www.internationalanswer.org/ there will be similar protests in san francisco and los angeles....be apart of history and dont lay on the sidelines!!! BRING OUR TROOPS HOME NOW!!!!!!!! *raising black power fist* p.s--if you want to organize buses or caravans from your university as well, to DC...then go to that site to sign a form...i encourage all HBCUS TO TAKE PART, ESPECIALLY HAMPTON, NORFOLK, BOWIE, NCCU, JOHNSON SMITH, MORGAN, NCAT, FAMU, TUSKEGEE, HECK ALL OF THE HBCUS IN ATL IF YOU CAN MAKE IT! DONT TALK ABOUT DOING BUT BE APART!

I actually agree with him, and I voted for Kerry. Why ruin the inauguration? That's a day that should be reserved for controlled excitement. It is not as if he just got in, this man has been in for 4 years, the same Bush is here that was here 4 years ago....Sure people can be dissapointed that he is still in, hell I am, I wish someone else was in besides him (and besides Kerry). But it is what it is...
I completely agree with ya'll. If I would have been old enough to vote, I would have voted Kerry because I don't like Bush nor the things he has done while in office. But ya'll, he's in office now and there's not too much we can do about it. Well I guess you can protest. I guess all I'm trying to say is that, Bush is in office, like J said, it is what it is....and we can only hope things won't get worse. But good luck with all of ya'lls efforts.

Let's get this straight. . .I do not agree with the war at all. . . But as my military friends and anyone else will tell you, we have to exhaust our resources to stabilize that country. If we don't, we'll have an even bigger problem on our hands than we have now. . Now concerning the march/protest. . .I think it's a great idea, and citizens have the right to address the government to redress our grievances. . . however, the Presidential Inauguration is not the setting in which to do it. . . I think of it as the person who interrupts the wedding, when the minister asks "If anyone find just cause that these two not be wed in holy matrimony please speak now or forever hold your peace." Or the rude people at graduations who refuse to stop shouting for their "baby", so the next person can walk across the stage. Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. led young and old people in protest, but they were both organized and they both had respect for decorum. The March on Washington, and the Million Man March (of which I was a participant) were both organized and operated with an agenda, and with respect to decorum. Pick another day and take center stage. Bring a million people to Washington, DC and conduct yourself accordingly. You don't have to like Bush and his positions, but you should respect the office and the title. If you think I'm selling out, then fine, but my record in my community shows otherwise.

I think the protest is a good idea, and an even better idea because of when its taking place. Why do the protest on some random day when people won’t be watching when you can do it on a day when the whole nation and world will be watching? These people arent going to be marching for their health, they’re marching to make a statement. We, especially as minorities, dont have a daaaamn thing to be celebrating on inauguration day and thas for sure. I dont think the protest is about being "sore losers", it's about standing up for what you believe in. People think bush is doing a bad job, which he is, and he should know about that. Now is not the time to be worried about formalities, voices need to be heard. And trust and believe it won’t only be just howard and hbcu students marching, black people aren’t the only ones unhappy about bush. And also just because bush has been poorly leading the country for four years we should just sit and watch while he poorly leads it some more and not say a word if we disagree about what’s going on? that’s crazy. I guess people who live in oppressed countries because of tyrannical dictators should just sit and take it too. Viva la Revolución!! 8) Wish I could attend the march

excuse me kindly, but martin luther king and malcolm x were still considered "UNRULY NIGGERS' no matter what they did :roll: ...since they were trying to make changes...no matter how peaceful they were...and martin luther still got shot for being "peaceful"......my point is this......why should i or my group im involved with worry about decorum when my brothers are getting shot in the field, or when my people are starving in the streets, or miseducated in schools, or tried in electric chairs for petty crimes.....my point is this....BUSH IS GONNA HEAR ALOT MORE FROM US, NO MATTER WHAT THE OCCASION, until he rights the wrongs he has done.....and again im NOT accusing you of being a sellout, far from it.!!!!....but to say what we are doing is "impolite" is hypocritical against the whole civil rights movement, brotha we wouldnt be where we are today if a few negroes werent "impolite" and didnt follow "decorum"...heck we may still be using the 'black" water fountains if we didnt stray from the norm....but thanks for your opinion, but if you want to donate to the org and still support in a small way PLEASE go the website and contribute to the cause, THANKYOU p.s--PLEASE CHECK YOUR FACTS...our org is very organized, we have been planning this event AGAIN for months, and have scheduled this in los angeles, washington, and san fran, we have buses,caravans coming in from all over the nation , and some individuals are flying in from overseas including iraq and including some veterans, we have been preparing for this moment for a while, and i commend my org for the upmost planning and maturity it has shown in this undertaking

Because America is a land of order. Do you think Bush is responsible for people starving in the street, people getting miseducated, or fried in electric chairs? Those things happened under Clinton, too, and he's considered the "black president". According to my grandparents, parents, deacons, ministers, etc; there is a time and a place for everything, and the inauguration is the not place for that type of protest. Protest during the Super Bowl, protest the Final Four, you'll get more coverage there. Protest when Bush starts naming judges, and protest when Ray-Ray is selling **** to his people on the corner. But don't disrupt a formal event. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

you know what, it amazes me people take such offense to what day it is.....but ya know what....you should get offended when people are getting **** innocently....the day still stands, no matter how many black people get offended....i swear no wonder we will never make it as a people if people are arguing over something as petty as "oooo **** PRESIDENT WOULDNT LIKE US TO DISRUPT HIS FORMAL ACTIVITIES, he might get RIGHT ANGRY and that aint RIGHT PROPER FOR ****!, MMMHMMMMM" :roll: ...whether democrat or republican, no person should take offense to people protesting against death and injustice ON ANY DAY!, its only the christian MORAL WAY!...or the very same thing bush was voted for in the first place in this godforsaken country :? p.s---vietnam didnt get changed without disruptive protest (by college students I MUST ADD)nor did other civil right injustices....the many changes that have been brought about in this nation have been by individuals who caused unrest even during formal situations....even if i have to disrupt their thanksgiving and sit with a picket sign, welp if it saves one innocent person, ill be more than happpy.....you dont get it.....the thing is......those people getting ****, or ignored, or abused welp to get the point across we should do everything possible to make people WAKE UP!!!!....and im appalled that anyone can sit here and talk about how "nice" we should be to murderers and someone who has shown how much he values human life and the rights of others p.ps--by the time we protest when bush starts naming judges, it will be too late, we need to get the message out now, that we want respect!...and about ray ray...welp if you knew my organization you would know about our various protests and events instead of making uneducated assumptions but then again, you wanna worry about some "formalities" :lol: ....i already know why gomab is agreeing, but ya know what, this shouldnt phase me, because you want to degrade this project, but ive been working on it for months with my coworkers of ALL RACES across the nation...and its time for the president to get a reality check!...because if noone says anything or waits to be "polite" then he'll never see the severity of the situation

Please read my posts, completely. I don't have a problem with your march at all, just the timing. I DON'T know what your organization is trying to accomplish, but I respect your passion for it. As I said, we can agree to disagree on this one. Good luck with your march.
