I think you're talking about the HOPE Scholarship... At public colleges, the HOPE Scholarship provides full tuition, approved mandatory fees (such as health and student activity fees), and a $300 per academic year book allowance. Room and board expenses are not covered. and yea you have to graduate with a 3.0 which I think should be moved up to a 3.5 only for GEORGIA colleges though
You right about bumpin' the criteria up; too many of us graduated with a 3.0 or better down here. Hell, everyone in my graduating class got HOPE. Besides, HOPE ain't doin' too much where I'm at. At a private GA college (i.e. Morehouse), you only get $3000, and then you STILL have to keep that 3.0 throughout college just to keep it.

Let me clarify this. U must have a 3.0 in your Core classes, or an overall grade average of an 80 when u graduate from high school. They pay for tuition, not room and board, and give u some money towards books. For private schools they give u $3,000 and some money for books as someone stated before. If u live in Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, or Tennessee, and live right near the GA border, u are eligible to get the HOPE scholarship too, provided u go to a GA college. The HOPE scholarship if funded by the Georgia Lottery. U must maintain a 3.0 throughout the year, both semesters. But now they are getting so strict on the scholarship they are soon about to make u have a 3.0 for every semester. 75 % of all HOPE scholars loose it anyway. That is how they can keep funding it
