I've got beef with *Proud Family*

It really reinforces bad black stereotypes. *Leading females are ALL Light-skindedededed *The Darkskin female is seen as loud and ghetto with no sense of self-worth because she keeps chasing after the same boy who DOESN'T want her. *Oscar Proud is the dominant Black Male figure in the house/show, yet he is seen as the Baffoon of the family. His company procduces a product that nobody likes and the women of the family contiue to riducle him. He as a Black Man is not given any respect and he's designed to simply be comic relief (Like all black men on television.) Seriously, its not that great, I feel insulted when I do watch it. Altho I do chucke when I see the ashy sisters. discuss

What do the Simpsons have to do with Proud Family? the Simpsons aren't black, there are only 4 black characters in the whole town.

its like that in almost any black cartoon or even show. The female is always lighter than the male and the lightest female is usually the lead. Look at most of the black shows on UPN or even the ghetto black movies. Most of the lead/pretty/ non ghetto girls are light skinned. I can't hate against my own complexion but I think they should mix in brown skinned and dark skinned people too.
I don't really agree with that. Look at Gabrielle Union and Nia Long... They haven't really ever played any "loud and ghetto roles" and they have starred in several movies. They usually are very classy in the movies they are in and they are both brown-skinned. They do show light-skinned women in movies as bein kind of stuck up and cold... That may be reachin, but I have noticed that. Look at "Friday", Felicia was a light-skinned crackhead and Nia Long was a sweet classy girl. I think we need to stop feeding into these stereotypes and just sit back and relax sometimes...
they are exceptions. go to your local black video store and you will see KD, the girl from smartguy, Vanessa Williams, and a multitude of other girls getting the lead role. However it is getting better. It used to be women like Lena Horne, Dorothy andridge, and Josephine Baker who would light up the stage. now we have sisters of all complexions out there. but all in all its a CARTOON. cartoons ride off stereotypes

why don't you write to the show expressing your views and concerns?

If there's a such thing as Arlen texas I doubt there are any. IT's that one Chris rock character th o. I don't watch tv too much anymore tho. Unless it's espn. Did you notice that black qb's are startin to take over? Hopefully vince young can follow in suit.
