In one of my forums i talked about going to a white school...well i was awarded for making the honor roll all year last night and something really hit me...I noticed that I was the only blac person (who never fronts like acting white at times) who recieved this award...i felt good but then again i was mad...my school doesn't round up grades so if you have an 85.6...thats what you have when you need an 86.0 to make the honor roll and alot of people were talking about how if it were a white student doing this or doing that things would have been different...and its true...i've seen a forum similar to this but i was just wondering about this topic...As a black student at a white school do you feel like you are givin a fair chance when there are not black teachers.

This is a simple answer. You call admissions of that college and have one sent to your home or just print the application from the colleges official website. I was famous for doing that this year. I dont wait on my guidance counselor for anything. I put MY EDUCATION into my own hands and make things happen on my own. If you wait for guidance counselors you might just be waiting forever....

Well i go to a all black school and when i say black i mean black. Out of my current junior class of 320 there are two white girls and one just dropped out of school. When i asked my couselor who is black about a HBCU she said they didn't have any info on them. I'm like what the F :? ck. How can this be an 99.9 percent black school and not have any info on HBCU'S. After like 3 months on tryin to get info on Morehouse I found a card that u can send for info on HBCU'S but get this spellman was on there, but not Morehouse. That is all they had on HBCU'S. So white school's ain't the only ones lackin info on them.

Damn!! that don't make no kinda sense, but I guess if you really want to go you have to take the initiative. I know my school doesn't have anything so my sister sent in for info on Howard. 8)

ok, so heres tha deal...try livin in IDAHO, were pretty much the population pf black people could fit in my house (and its not all that big). that ****... but bein black in a white school/ city has its +'s and -'s. some pluses are you do get reconized b4 other peps. (which can be could at times) i have better chances at career opportunities (though i DONT want to live here when i do start my career) on the downside some pep (coaches n teachers) think that since im black i can excel in sports.. i had a basketball coach scream at me when he found out that i was doin cheerleading instead of basketball ( i had never played basketball either) i told him that i had never played that sport b4 and he still said well i bet youre good at it.... or coaches think that you can run fast or sumthin like that..it can get old after a while.... then when it comes to friends, they think that just because i like to dance and im black that im the best (which by far isnt true)... but what im just trying to say if youre still reading this is that instead of looking at the -s of being the minority maybe we, you, should prove them right or wrong (dependiing on what it is that ur tryin to prove) and take the best of being the minorities. but thats just my opinion, and i would like to know what other people think too.
