See, thats the problem. You are thinking from your point of view and not from anyone elses. It's what will work for BOTH parties, not just you.

By the time I'm ready to have kids, I will hopefully have established myself in my career for about 20 years. (Pilot). I want to be flying corporate jets. With that I'll be able to have plenty of time with my family, not to mention be able to fly them anywhere we want for free.
Like somebody said before me, i owuldn't expect my wife to put her carrer on hold to take care of my family. That's gonna be a team effort, and I'd help her out as much as she needed, so that she could continue with her career.
