WHEN GREEKS ASK THE QUESTIONS

Ok. I've never seen this addressed in a thread... What if a greek asks an aspirant if he/she is interested in their org (and he/she is, but has never expressed interest)? Should the aspirant lie? What if the greek is a friend of the aspirant? Should the aspirant then be honest? Will a greek even ask such a question? Also, when is it appropriate for an aspirant to express interest to a greek he/she knows in that chapter? 1st semester (soph. year) seems too early and Rush seems too late....when (if) did you verbally express interest? I hope my questions don't cross any boundaries. Forgive me if they do.

No i mis-read your post, I for some reason was thinking that people from this site were e-mailing you... but it's amazing at what a little information can get you nowadays... they may have access to school files..... or hey i dunno it's crazy out there... some people may even go as far as tracking you down on HBCU connect... i wouldn't do that to express interest because I bet they would think that i'm a hound..... thats just embarassing (the thought that is). :? :? :?

Come on now... I won't even tell my mama... now why would I tell you!!!! Hopefully you'll know soon enough..... I haven't really figured out how/ or if you should be discreet afterwards.... I have a ways to go..... just know that whatever org i'm interested in.... is the best too me and it is definitely in my HEART.... and you or nobody else can change that.... Now if I get in or not well that depends on something greater than myself.... but all i can do is PRAY about it.

No, the aspirant should not lie. The aspirant should simply let the Greek know that they are doing their research to find out which organization would be the best match for them.

If the Greek is truly a friend, as in someone with whom you've shared close and personal experiences and information, then it likely that they would already know. If they don't know, for whatever reason, and you feel that could be an asset to your pursuit then let them know where your interests lie. If they can't help then there is no need for them to know until you've crossed.

Yes, for many many reasons. Some because they want to know. Some because they want to be nosey. Some to help you. Some to use you. Some want to haze you. Some want to educate. Some want to persuade. Some want to dissuade you. Whatever the Greek's reasoning may be, you are the only person that is in control of what you say and do.

Depends on many different variables. If you've been active on your campus, then you probably have had enough contact with members of GLOs to know the personalities of those in the organization of which you have an interest. The tricky part is that you won't ever really be able to make a genuine connection with a person of the GLO that you are interested in if you aren't moving around in their social or recreational circle to begin with. In order to make genuine connections you need to become genuinely involved with activities, events and organizations around your campus. So in the end when you express your interest is based upon how comfortable feel with those particular individuals. How comfortable you feel with those individuals is on you.
