Are you comfortable around other races?

HBCU's are unrealistic in that in the real world we'll be competing with majority whites, but I still don't think that matters because if someone goes to a white school how prepared will they be to help their own out? I grew up in a town that's like 99% black. My h.s. and 2 years of my elementary schooling was diverse and all other years were 99% black. I'm going into my second semester at Howard now and ironically I'm becoming more and more comfortable around other races. My comfort level is gauged by diversity of background moreso than race. If someone has a far different background to the point where we have nothing in common than I'm likely to create an awkward moment in that I won't have anything to really say...

I was actually uncomortable when I got to A&T. I grew up around white people. There were any black people for MILES.

Hmm, I'm comfortable around other races cuz I went to a pretty diverse HS. I'm going to say it was about 40% white and 60% everything else (Mostly middle easterners & hispanics...and den blacks and asians toward the bottom). I had come from Brooklyn...so to move to a more diverse area, I had to switch it up in interests & such (music, clothes, etc.) Now coming back to a more black environment...I've switched up again. Sorta. I have my more "white" moments & my more "black moments"...to be stereotypical. I'm a blend of my previous environments now. However, when w/o black people, I feel more comfortable around other minorities before white people. But I sometimes I actually miss white environemnts & the crap that goes on...lol, the white culture...
