HBCU Factoids!

In honor of black history month (and also to further my own pursuit of information to be turned into questions for my Honda team), I think we should use the days of February to post HBCU factoids. They don't have to be about your own school, and every bit of information helps. To begin I have two: Virginia State University was the first college for blacks to be state-supported. Wiley College was the first college for blacks found west of the Mississippi River. ADD ON!

Xavier University Of Louisiana is... -#1 in the nation in the number of Doctor of Pharmacy degrees awarded to African Americans. since 1927 it has graduated nearly 25% of the 6,500 Black pharmacists practicing in the United States. It is one of only two pharmacy schools in Louisiana. -#1 in the nation in placing African American students into medical schools -#1 in the nation in the number of African American undergraduates receiving degrees in Biology and the life sciences -the only Catholic and historically Black university
I know I'm off topic...but how is XULA doing now?...I was probably going to end up there in the fall...but that B*tch Katrina messed that up...
Xavier is doing quite well! You can still come if you want to. We are on our campus and have all the same amenties we had before Katrina. All of our buildings are opened and functioning, with a few repairs being made here and there. We aren't suffering in the least way. The majority of our students came back, so it's not a ghost town down here. Out of the 4,100 students we had before Katrina, 3,118 have returned and are enrolled in classes. Gotta love that school spirit! XU!

Good job folks, keep it going! Shaw University is the oldest HBCU in the south and is often referred to "Mother Shaw" among NC HBCUs.

Um, I'm going to have to ask you to clarify that statement further. There appears to be something missing from behind professionals. This statement means Fisk has around one to two million alumni. That isn't the case.

I read that in US News. It was a college guide.
