For Christians, I pose the questions: Why do you call yourself a Christian? What is a Christian to you and according to history?

it can't be denied christianity was forced on our people as other peoples around the world...it's unfortunate that some people don't take the time to explore and learn about their denomination and Christianity as a whole...i quite firmly believe that religion is only a formal way of praising God...if more people studied in depth they might find themselves strenghtened in their faiths or wanting another one that will give them that strength...i was baptized a catholic when i was younger, but i made the committment and was confirmed in my faith (an actual sacrament) last year...my parish makes it a requirement that youth study catholicism for a period of two years before they make the sacrament...a bit excessive to some people but it wasn't for me...im still learning and i will continue to learn...it's important for all of us to continue to be students of God...no matter what religion our religion...and let me leave u with a quote from a Vatican document: SEe yeah my grandfather is Catholic or whateva he **** no but the fact is just cuz u was forced into that not everyone believes in Religion some people rather take unot nature and stuff like that its crazy! "For we have in our hearts a law written by God. To obey it is the very dignity of the human person; according to it we will be judged." (Vatican II Documents: Gaudium et spes). follow your heart and the true judgement God gave you. period.

I am a christian because I accept Jesus Christ as the Son of Jehovah, as my personal savior, and now-reigning King. I am a Christian because try to live my life as he did. I am not a Christian because it was forced upon my ancestors. I am a Christian because I made the personal choice to be one. The heinous crimes that have been committed against humanity by people professing to be Christians are just that, crimes committed by people PROFESSING to be Christians.

Wow...I had totally forgot abou posting this lol. But the main reason for asking this question is just to get everyone thinking about what exactly a Christian is. Some say it means Christ-like while others say it means belonging to Christ. It was used twice in KJV translation and once in the NIV. The definition of the use isn't clear to whether it was used as a offensive term or not. One thing I want every person who professes Christ to look into is Matthew 28:18 and focus on what Christ has called you to do in the great comission. Christian, being a tossed around term with no one definite definition isn't what Christ called us to be but rather disciples. He called us to make disciples, not Christians. A disciple is a relentless follower of Christ. No other definition for that. So I just encourage everyone to look more into their title and how it lines up in this world to their actions. Does the word disciple identify you before the moldable term of Christian? Just something to think on. As for those who brought up arguments about the religion of Christianity, e-mail me or hit me up on pm if you want to discuss. This thread was obviously not made for the discussion of that.
