I am confident that the hard copy applications are entered into the same database that’s used for the online applications. The only difference is the person that is doing the work. When you do it online, you input your information into the system. When you mail it in, someone that works for the university will enter your information. If you decide to do it online, make sure it’s a secure connection. If the web address starts with “https”, you should be ok. Before the internet, most, if not all college applications were mailed. Therefore, either method should be ok. Good Luck!

This may be true...but through all of that you are assuming that there is a competent mail man, the people entering in the information (who have been doing it all day) don't start mixing their 6's and their 9's... You don't have to hope and wish that it was delivered on time...or if they even received it. Yeah we can reflect on life pre-internet...but there is a reason why most colleges are pushing students to apply online...and why FAFSA is no longer sending out paper applications...It's a new day, and I'm sure there were many a person that had their application misplaced mailing it in.

Good points…When I applied to college, I used the online application. I did not experience any problems. However, several of my friends mailed their applications. I recommend doing what makes you feel comfortable.

If you sent in your essay online for Hampton do you need to send a copy in the mail? When I checked my status for Hampton it said that they required an essay but I sent it in online.
