Which do you side with? Why? How do you explain the origin of humanity?

I exaggerated quite a bit when I meant let the thread die. This topic is worthy of discussion. Freedom of speech is top priority and I believe that from the bottom of my heart. My overall point was the respect factor. Debate is cool but when actual attacks are thrown thats when it becomes a problem. HBCU Connect's forum was here to provide prospective, current and alumni members of HBCU schools to converse and connect with each other. In short, it's better to be united than to be divided. Talk to others as you'd like to be talked too. Btw, Welcome to the community.

I know exactly what you mean, and you're right. But that's not going to stop me from typing the first thing that comes to my mind. If every time I posted a comment I looked over it to see if I was "respecting" everyone ...My words wouldn't be as true. They just would be as "authentically Kerri" So Imma keep doin' me...And you keep doin' you. Mmkay? ...lol. If anyone has a problem with me...they can either leave, or ignore me. I'm not losing any sleep. Trust me. Thanks for the welcome.

Someone said before that it's a combination of the two, and I'm leaning towards that. But you know what's funny, I've never heard any religion fight more adamantly against the evolutionary theory other than Christianity. Why is that?

the population will generally accept information from man (scientists) because it is a tangible source rather than relying on something that was divinely inspired with insufficient tangible backing.

This is true, somewhat. But when you say, 'the population' which one?

Now that I look back I didn't answer the question... Um. actually...I would have to say that you only hear majority of Christians arguing against evolution theories because of the location that you are in: the U.S. A nation that supports free speech and debate, and because Christians make up the largest religious population in the United States (76%). Other nations, such as the Arab Nations, suppress most kinds of rebellious ideology that goes against their faith. So basically you are hearing the loudly projected voice of the majority.

Thanks, because it seemed like only Christianity harbored a Creationist theory. Which is, as quiet as it's kept, not true at all.

read the bible then think twice about evolution.
Well I found my lectures on evolution more convincing that the bible's account. We have a lot of evidence for evolution: fossil evidence, DNA evidence...evolutionary theory is pretty convincing to me.

True. But if you're ONLY using the Bible and forgetting other other religious texts, that it would seem like it's more accountable. Most scientists keep using the Bible as some kind of dartboard, as if Christianity is the only religion that exists in the West, which is totally unfair. Evolutionary theory in my opinion, by itself, seems rather pessimistic and downright extremist. To expect people to actually believe that we are all created by random particle collision (which is what Darwinian theory supports) is just as ludicrous as expecting them to believe that man was created first (ha!) and woman created from a rib of man (*laughs derisively*). DNA evidence also shows that the digital composition of the double helix is far too complex for it to be a product of random particle collision. Unfortunately, to speak of this and to be a part of the scientific community is, well, blasphemy. To tell the truth, to believe in science and man's work alone will make you just as blind as those who believe in the Divine exclusively. Before I forget, this is the full title of the Origin of Species...which most scientists neglect to mention...and with good reason. On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life by Charles Darwin...that last part--doesn't it sound like something out of a Ku Klux **** manual?
