Hey! I'm a Lady-In-Waiting for the Links Cotillion, and I was wondering, who is being presented this year, or waiting for next year?

How do you get to be a debutante? I know a couple of my friends have been presented, but I never understood how that came about. What do you have to do? Do you have to apply for it or something? I think it might be fun.
-I became a Debutante by an AKA referring/sponsoring me.The one I am in requires you to fill out an application and pay an application fee of $50.00.The total entrance fee in $200.00.Some might say that it is a lot of money, but this experience is worth every penny 8) It is very FUN...it gets you involved in the communtiy and you make lifelong friends.

The Links Holiday Cotillion was beautiful!!! All of the girls looked like pincesses, and were truly the top young ladies in Memphis. I was a Lady-In-Waiting, and I can't wait until it is my turn next year. To all the Debs, congratulations, and I hope all of your dreams come true on your special night.

No my boyfriend was not my escort. One of my really good male friends were and I am so happy that he was my escort. We were advised to chose a friend and not a boyfriend because this is a long process anything could happen with a relatonship. One of the girls chose a ex-boyfriend that she still liked and guess what happen? The big day the boy was no where to be found. she had no escort. So my advice is to get a friend to be your escort. plus you will have more fun that way. If yall have any more question u can email me at Jluv8604@hotmail.com or aim me Jluvruhs.

Hey you all, I thought I would bring this back to the top. Last night, I made my debut in the 2004 Fashionetta Cotillion. I did not place, but I received two awards. One award was for attendance and the other came from the Alumni of my high school. These two awards and the experience I had being a debutante mean more to me than anything in the world. I was not very nervous when I was being presented. I guess because it was nothing like the one last year (I was just watching last year). The one last year was more elegant and there were more (dedicated) participants. The group this year "bonded" alittle, but not enough. Despite that, I am glad to have met all of the escorts and debutantes. Now it is over and I am happy 8)

well, i was a Deb-In-Waiting this past weekend for the 2004 Cotillion sponsered by the National Association of Black Professional Business Women and Alpha Kappa Alpha. it wz a HOT mess! the girl who won Miss Debutante was related to a judge & went to the same church as a few of the administration, & who's mother was also an AKA. Since there was a storm, many ticketholders did not show up(i'm talkin seriously inclement weather conditions). practices were shipshod scheduled, & come to find out for all the points you are supposed to be accumulating from your time as a deb in waiting to your debutante premier, most of them will be coming from your TALENT showcase. the girl who won wasn't even a Debinwaiting last year, so how did she have more points than others? hmm. and a good deal of them left soon after their presentation to get **** at this girl's afterparty, even tho there wz a party wit a crunk dj at the thing. it has me wary of whether or not i should participate next year, until administration of NBPW gets their act together. it seemed like more of a connections type thing

I was a Deb for the Mu Chi Zeta Graduate Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta, INC. I 'ont know where ya'll get this deb-in-waitin business from. We do it an entirely different way from ya'll. We got our letters and attended tha info meetin in March of my 11th grade year. Payed $100 dollars when we decided to be in it. Sold ads to determine the winner of Ms. Debutante and attended meetings. Ours was tight tho...we had about 15 gurls. The escorts were pretty damn fine!!! Afterwards there was a party and all of our friends showed up. Being that I'm an Arkee...we stayed around and did out struts...then me and my escort dipped because it was our First One year anniversary...so all in all...it was a pretty good night...MY ADVICE: DON'T DO BOOTLEGG!!! PLEASE DON'T DO IT...If you decided to be a Deb do some research and go to the right one or you will be seriously dissappointed!!!
