Hi all.......... I have not had the chance to see any stepshows so far this year, so... Just wondering since this is like prime stepshow season with everyone having homecoming stepshows and all........... 1. some of the best themes you've seen 2. good step teams 3. types of outfits people are wearing 4. any pics from stepshows 5. and teams who needed abit more prep time I've just been wondering ..

As for North Carolina, if you compare the step teams of the early-to-mid 90s with those now, you'd definitely see the difference in precision and performance. Just because there were no movies, doesn't mean that the steppers were not good showpersons. All of this focus on gimmicks has led to the rise of alumni and professional step teams like: The Unknown Steppers The NYC Kane Team The Pink and Green Dream Team The East Coast Outlaws The Black and Old Gold Steppers And they continue to win against most college teams, because they concentrate more on their technique than the extras. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of pro-step teams competing with college teams.

I mean, it all depends where you are in the United States...You obviously seen the Court thing several times; that was my first...it all depends where you are. And I don't have a problem doing the stepping and chants rather than all the "movie" , but you can't really blame some people because that's all we see... that is what the standard was when we first stepped... it was like that when I went to my first stepshow two years ago. I saw props and videos and dancing, and at this day and age, at my school, that is what is expected to get the crowd's AND the judges' attention.

I agree with whats been said so far... its HIGH TIME for there to be some changes made in the world of step shows. It should never be about dancing or taking off clothes for ANY organization...male OR female. This past homecoming i feel that my organization caught the raw end of the stick at the show. Falling... dissing.... both things take from what stepping should be. But hey... there is always next go round. I love to see new things in a show. My Eta boyz had some mouths wide open with a "table" step they did last spring and then the "mirror image" in this past homecoming show.

Yea the Chair was hot to death..... The blindfold step and the mirror image was hot too... but it doesn't count for anything anymore.... Which brings me to my quote from my first post on this thread.
