Your child reaches adulthood, becomes a successful whatever and meants the man/woman of their dreams. The person is kind, considerate, loving, overall perfect and their almost completely compatible, but he/she is of another faith, whether it be Islam, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, whatever. Would you still give your child your blessing or would you raise heck over it? Fathers, say it was your daughter, would you still give her away at the wedding? Everyone, would you prefer that they be happy with someone of another faith, or settle for someone that they loved less that was of your faith.

co-signs Me personally, I say, let them marry. Hell, I'm agnostic (I can see the rants coming right now), and my boyfriend is a preacher. We're so in love, we've been together three years. Why? We don't dwell on our differences; we dwell on what we've got in common, which is a lot. That may sound idealistic but it's been working so far. And as for children? Raising children does get a little sticky. Me personally, if (or when) my bf and I marry, I'd let him teach my children his religion, and I'd try to understand a little of it so I could encourage it. I grew up in a religious family, and even though I am not religious myself, I think kids need a good anchoring ground, something to stand on and rely on. As for other couples that both have strong religious views (like Christians and Muslims), they can simply explain carefully to children when they are old enough that mommy and daddy simply believe in different things, and that when they are old enough, they can make a choice. And both should be resolved not to be "hurt" over a choice. I know that'll be hard -- right now my parents are hurt cuz they feel like I've been throwing out a lifetime of learning -- but everyone's gotta become their own person. But I don't just mean the feeling -- I mean disparaging remarks about the other's religion or something, to try to get someone on your "side". The only time I couldn't see this working is if religious beliefs are in direct conflict with one another. For example, if someone is from that strain of Judaism that sees Jesus as a blasphemer and not the Son...and they are in it with a Christian...that could cause some problems O_O

If you desire to go to college you wouldn't hang around people who would discourage you from it? If you want to stay abstinent, would you hang around people who fornicate? If you don't do ****, would you hang around drug dealers or crackheads? The answer is no because their lifestyles and mindset is not the same as yours. As far as religion goes, islam and christianity is not the same. They might believe in the same God, but religion is totally different. If you are all about serving Jesus and teaching christian values and they are all about Muhammed and teaching islamic values then there will be conflicts. This is the same for the other religions mentioned. This is not like a black marrying a white because that deals with the physical, but this issue deals with the spiritual which is who the person really is. If she or he chooses to marry outside their faith then that is up to them, but they won't have my blessing.
