Mr. Howard New Orleans, LA
WE HAD TO DISCUSS THIS IN CLASS TODAY. THE TOPIC WAS DO YOU FEEL THAT BLACK ENTERTAINMENT MEANING MOSTLY COMEDY IS MAKING THE ENTERTAINERS OUT TO BUFFOONS. AN EXAMPLE WAS MARTIN'S SHOW (BEST SHOW EVER), HOW HE I GUESS ACTED CRAZY AND JUST OFF THE WALL. AND HOW COAL WAS ACTIN DUMB ALL THE TIME. WELL I FEEL THAT SOMETIMES ENTERTAINERS PUSH IT TO A BUFFOONERY LEVEL BUT ITS JUST ENTERTAINMENT. THEY HAVE A FLYER AT HOWARD SAYING TO BOYCOTT BET. CUZ IT SAYS THERE IS MORE TO BLACKS THAN WHAT YOU SEE ON BET. THIS IS TRUE BUT SHOULD WE NOT SUPPORT BLACKS IN WHAT EVER THEY DO. WE ARE THE ONLY RACE THAT DOESNT SUPPORT OUR ON RACE. INSTEAD OF SAYING IM NOT GONNA WATCH THAT ENTERTAINER BECAUSE HE IS MAKING BLACKS LOOK BAD, WE SHOULD BE LIKE IM GONNA SUPPORT HIM REGARDLESS. WE DONT SUPPORT FAMOUS BLACK PEOPLE AND GO SEE THEM SPEAK, WE DONT SUPPORT BLACK ARTIST AND BUY THERE MUSIC, WE DONT GO SEE BLACK MOVIES LIKE WE SHOULD. I THINK BLACKS CAN BE MORE SELFISH THAN OTHER RACES. AND THIS IS WHY I THINK WE ARENT DOING AS WELL AS OTHER RACES. HOW DO YOU FEEL? IF YOU DONT WANT TO RESPOND YOU DONT HAVE TO.

I can't remember the name, but it was a hospital drama. Mostly black cast. Blair Underwood, Vivica A. Fox and Gabriel Union were all on it. I think it lasted 2 seasons tops. Ooo, it was City of Angels. Yeah, that was the name.

I just don't agree with that. Sure, their are alot of our people that this applies to but their are many to which it does not. I hate how so many of our own people act like all black people can be catagorized or labled and that we all carry the same personality and attitudes. That attitude makes it seem like their is nothing complex about this race, like saying "we all think the same, act the same, and look the same. Yet if a white person was to say something along these lines, we would be ready to fight. I have friends that swear they need to hit the club or a party every week. Then i have those who can go to a basketball game and hang out w/ their peoples in the dorm and call it a great weekend(me being 1 of them  ). I know girls who don't own a shred of designer fabric and don't care to, and then those who swear by it. I have friends who are virgins, and plan to stay that way until married. I have a friend that is a youth minister. I know stupid football players, smart basketball players and vice versa. People who are graduating in 3 years, and people who are 6th year seniors (not saying its a very bad thing). My whole point is, the black race is not one sided. Our personalities are as diverse as the shades of our skin... But you wouldn't think that from watching BET
