Polygamy

I just got done watching Dr. Phil...which is rare, but newho, i found the topic kind of interesting. It was about this secret polygamy society in Colorado City. They are the very extreme of conservative and believe many of the traditions that they follow and beliefs that they hold are through the will of God. One woman was married to a man that has 15 wives. Most of them on average have about 6 children with him. That's about 90 children ya'll . The wife was very content with the situation and says that she loves her family (yeah...all 200 of dem peeps). Ya'll can call that polygamy if u want...but it sounds like PIMPIN to me. Then there are the "lost" ones. Those are children/teenagers that managed to escape out of the society and start new lives for themselves. Two teenage girls had to re-educate themselves because their education level stopped at elementry school. They were used to be very submissive and always doing for others. Not to mention they are quite timid and fearful of guys. One of the girls stated "I really don't want to be bothered with boys right now. I think they are one of the most stressful things on the planet". Now that was one of the realest statements i heard throughtout the whole show And guys...don't think you're left out of the loop either. A few of the young guys "escaped" as well. One boy ran away at the age of 14 with nothing but the clothes on his back. He was not allowed to play any sports becuz it was seen as "prideful". One guy was kicked out at the age of 18 because he kissed a girl that he was in love with. I'm not one to knock the religion of others...to each his own. But like i said...i know pimpin when i see it

I have a problem with people creating their own religions. What you believe is what you believe but do not claim religious principles to justify it.
Isnt that what religion is though...... So u got a problem wit The Apostles, Mohammed, Buddah, Confusious? Hell cuz thats basically what then did. If you aint Jewish you should just retract that statement
No, I'm not going to retract my statement but I am going to clarify. When I said I have a problem with ppl creating their own religions and using religious principles I wasn't referring to The Apostles or Mohammed or Buddah or any one else who had something to base their beliefs on. I'm referring to the ppl that take the bible or any other religious book out of context to suit their own desires.

Clearly I understand what you are saying, but I don't agree with it. These people are Mormon and it is in their belief system. Many can say that Christians are wrong for believing in Christ and celebrating Christmas, but as a Christian I won't. What I believe is wrong is the fact that these older men are forcing these young boys out of the community. I was watchinng A Current Affair (which I didn't know was still on the air) and they had a special on the "Lost Boys." Some of the older men in the society were harassing and putting the younger men out, because they felt a threat. The older men felt they had to compete with the younger men for the younger women. They would take thhe guy's rights away, wouldn't allow them to play basketball or anything that would put them in close contact with any females. It was children as young as 13 and 14 gettin put out of the community and having to fend for themselves. That is what I think is wrong, turning your back on family when that is something that is center to the Mormon faith, but as far as the polygamy...let them do what they do.

Anway, like i said before. It's flat out wrong. People seem to take scriptures from the bible to try and justify wrong doing. Just because someone in the bible may have had several wives doesnt make it right. Plain ans simple... It's not of God. *rolls eyes*
You all need to look outside the box.. :???: Monogamy is popular within the United States but Polygamy is practiced by more people around the world.
You and the rest of these fools dont need to tell me nothing about stepping outside of a box. I could give a rats behind about whats popular and whats NOT.Popularity does not get you in Heaven....Nuff said :x

But as a Christian you're supposed to be accepting of other religions. That's one of the requirements.

U know what, some of yall saying "in the Bible this, in the Bible that". Mayne use common sense that God gave u. If something is not what Jesus Christ would do it is a sin and there is no debating that unless u aren't a true Christian
