My Fellow Greeks,
Do you talk as freely to GDIs on campus as you do here?
Open/Unmoderated Greek Forums are breeding grounds for Perps.
Open/Unmoderated Greek Forums also give Aspirants a great deal of information that many of you had to learn firsthand through your journey to Greekdom.
Save those conversations for private listservs and moderated boards.
Some of you folks explain far too much at times.
You've shown yourself to worthy in someone's eyes, you don't need props from anyone else in reference to your Frat or Sorority.
Yes a lot of these people you interact with here were your friends before you crossed, but they aren't in your GLO.
Loose Lips Sink Ships.
Fraternally Yours,
laidbackfella

lol, how did this thread become dedicated to chief? I don't know if laidback necessarily had him in mind, i think the issue here is broader than him. It isn't about the explaining the history behind a painting. It's about freely handing out info and hints that can be attained if a prospect would just do a lil research. Do some of you see that as an issue on this board? (this is particularly directed to greeks)
Do u think that greeks are alot more open and understanding on the net, than they are in person? Would an interest as freely approach a greek face 2 face, and ask some of the questions that are asked on this board? Would u be so quick to explain yourself to someone if they questioned why u joined your org or what makes it so great, if that was to occur in the flesh?
...these are the questions that are being posed.

I think that Greeks and interests are much more open on the internet as opposed to in person. Many interests seem to think that the internet gives them enough anonymity to say/do whatever they choose. For example, it is HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE for interests to be sending interest letters to sorority/fraternity members through facebook messages! On the other hand, a lot of Greeks seem to be much more open about sharing knowledge and experiences with interests via the message boards.
I think that the internet has completely changed the game when it comes to Greek Life. There used to be a time when interests would have to go to places like Moreland-Spingarn and do REAL research as opposed to just typing a few words on a keyboard. When you would have to SEEK OUT members as opposed to just doing a search on facebook. Simply put, the internet just makes things a whole lot ‘easier’ and easy does NOT always equal better.
This is how I feel...if Greeks feel they are giving us aspriants too much information then the ball really is and always will be in YOUR courts cause we can never know anything that you all dont tell us. So to ease any concerns about greeks telling gdi's too much is at the end of the day a simple answer. Dont respond to questions that you all would feel is " giving away too much and making things too easy. " I dont understand why thats so difficult to do.
