Question!!!

I've been viewing this part of the hbcuconnect message board and I've seen alot of people come on and ask questions and alot of people get attitudes when someone just wants to know an answer. I can understand if someone is tryin to diss your organization or ask personal things about your pledging process, but alot of times if someone asks something simple, some of yall will get rude and try to go off. Is it really that deep to try to go off on someone over the internet that you dont even know? Do you think thats going to make you appear any smarter or prove your point any more? If you see a post that you don't wanna answer, can't you just skip it? I mean, maybe they really did want the question asked, maybe they really didnt know the answer. I'm pretty sure you didnt know everything about every greek organization. Yahoo! GOOGLES, ASKJEEVES, and MSN might not answer all the questions someone is wanting to know. Maybe they want to ask a member of that organization personally. If you view the index part of the board it says right under the greek forum "Kappas Step...... Sigmas Step.......... Aight........... Whats Really Good.... Ask question about ya Favorite Greek Fam or Rep ya Letters!!" So if they are doing what the description says, why get upset alot of the times when stuff shouldnt be a biggie?

Research is all about weeding out what's useful knowledge and what isn't. If you can't do that yet, then by all mean please concentrate and learn something in your Freshman comp classes. Worry about greek life later.

you arent jumping down my throat because I'm not asking anyone on here anything about greek life. I just think alot of the people on here go about it the wrong way. If you think the question shouldnt be asked, why even reply to it you know? You say u are sick of the same questions but if you see its something you dont wanna reply to, exit out of it.

Not trying to call you out since I am a newbie on this board but aren't you trying to be greek? Wasn't the whole purpose behind your "Asking the Divine 9s help" board about your conflict concerning an upcoming informational. Your post is interesting considering such... Anyway, IMO, individuals should appreciate their internet slaps on the hand. Clearly, this is WAY better then the individual strolling on campus and looking like Boo Boo the Fool by asking a member these questions face to face. I'm not sure about the greeks on you all's campus but at my alma mater you would QUICKLY be told to consult the organization's website and dismissed. I think it's funny that several people on this board use the argument that greeks being rude could turn away potential members. If one member (or even several chapter members) being curt or even rude to you makes you lose interest in an organization with several thousand of members and one event turns you way from an organization that, if you were given the chance, you would be a part of for the rest of your life....maybe you really weren't all that interested in the first place.

hmmmm so you telling me, if u were interested in an organization and a few of the members of that organization was **** towards you, you would still wanna be down with them? I dont care what you say, you can wanna be something for like 10 years and then if someone comes across and **** you off on a whole other level, that would turn you off. I mean, sure, its not the whole organization but you are repping them. You are holding down your organization. whoever heard of "internet slaps"?? IMO, people on here take stuff to serious. Hmmmm...that is EXACTLY what I am saying. There is a difference between being **** off versus TOTALLY losing interest in an entire organization. I would definitely question an individual who claimed to have been a serious interest and they would lose interest because their pursuit of the organization wasn't simple. Some of the things that greeks do are mind games to see how serious an individual is. I'm always amazed by individual's sense of entitlement nowadays... If one incident turns someone off..they can walk. TRUST me that there will be several other interests to take their place. And one member is not going to blemish the reputation of a whole organization to anyone other than the thin skinned individual who got their feelings hurt. BTW- I just used the term internet slap. It was just my way of characterizing how some greeks respond to questions they feel are inappropriate. Again...I'm sure an individual will appreciate getting told this over the internet which is semi-anonymous as opposed to hurting their chances on their own yard.

If you change your mind about joining an organization based off of the members behavior towards you, then clearly you don't want it bad enough. If you wanted it bad enough, you wouldn't let that bother you so much. You should be focused on the original principles that the organization was founded on. Some of my prophytes were mean, but I didn't let that stop me. I worked hard and didn't let them come between me and my goal. That's how I got to where I am now.
