I don't really have specific questions about the biology department and premed program but I am considering XU and I was wondering if it is really hard where you have to be on your P's and Q's all the time? I just want to know anything that you can tell me about it. Thanks Chelci
That depends on what type of student you are. With any class, if you are lazy and don't do your work, then you will get poor grades. But if you are average and do an okay job, you can get by with B's and C's. Some classes you have to put forth a whole lot of effort for A's. I was an okay student, and I didn't really try as hard as I could have, and I got mostly B's 1st semester. 2nd semester, I actually did my work and got 2 A's and 3 B's. Plus I got bypass credit in an English course cause I did honors program.

Thank you for responding. Right now in high school(rising junior) I am an A and B student who takes honors classes? Going by what you said, I think I will do okay. Does anyone know about their band program? Chelci

Good luck w/ being pre-med. You and about the other 85% of your freshmen class will be too. Just make sure you stick with it, because taking Gen. Biology/ Gen. Bio Lab/ Gen. Chem/ Gen. Chem Lab/ & Chem drill all at the same time will quickly kick your ****. If being a Dr. isn't what you where truly meant to be, you will know by the end of freshman year. Grades will speak for themselves. But make sure you go to all the pre-med meetings, do some community service, and keep your grades up so you can join the pre-med honor society (Alpha Epsilon Delta).

I have a few questions... For the people attending in the fall - Have you received your financial aid award letter yet? Continuing Xavierites - I don't have any math classes this semester (my friend does, and we have the same major), is that normal?

Whoever made this post thanks. Ok i have some questions also because i'm an incoming freshman too. Does anyone know anything about the Howard Hughes program? Has anyone ever been in it? I've read what they said it was about but what are the perks you get for being in it? And the pre med/biology major, is it as hard as it seems, because i just saw my schedule and it seems a little hectic.

Howard Hughes is a program they have in the summer on campus for the incoming freshman. I haven't didn't do it my freshman year, but a couple of my friends did, and basically they went to classes and stuff, like a reg. summer program. And since u r bio/pre-med (like sooo many others will be in the fall freshman class) , u really need to be focused on your grades. That is the first thing Carmichael and then will tell u in the pre-med meetings. GRADES MATTER AND ARE THE 1ST PRIORITY FOR ALL FRESHMAN PRE-MEDS!!! Your schedule probably looks intimadating, but it is the same as a lot of other pre-med upperclassmen took also. I can't stress enough how serious you have to be about your grades. It is very easy to slip up and fall behind.
