Wow...it's weird that you would post this. I learned about this myself from Howard students. It's been around for a while and I know Uppity Negro got alot of support from DC, but I live in Atlanta and had never heard about it until someone posted it on the boards.

Your right, a shirt cannot change the world. And I do not believe that is her aim. And would you rather me speak "highly" of the insitution of slavery? The ONLY good thing that came out of slavery was a roof over their heads and MAYBE a meal. And to be honest with you I praise the insitution of slavery. It made our race stronger. What other race do you know that if a child has just 10% of black blood in them their black(not saying that slavery did that)? Or what other race has endured Jim Crow, Apartheid, Racial Profiling, or any of those things, and STILL come out on top? The Black Race.
Uppity Negro is simply saying "Thank You" to our ancestors from the past to the present, and not only that it's also saying "You can't hold us down". If you speak with the owner, you would know that she is not trying to create a Black Klu Klux **** through Uppity Negro. She's simply trying to educate. Some thing that the world and our race needs. And who says people cannot speak out against racism? I attended the Countriest White Redneckish High School in all of Metro Atlanta. And I made sure that EVERY black person in that school was treated just as equally. Now, it may not have been broadcasted nationally. But it got done. And guess what? I did it WITHOUT a Uppity Negro shirt.
And if I sound like a 5th Grader. Deal with it.
And, may I please ask. Why did you create the name Howard Negro?

I have an uppity negress shirt and i love it. I'm from Nashville and when i wear it people just become boggled. I gotta get me another one

we wouldn't want them to witness a Negro acting in a primitive fashion, now would we?
