Intelligent advice and common sense needed, please post!!

I know exactly what ur goin through. I'm doing the exact same thing except in high school. I went to my school for two years and I ended up despising it. When I transfered to the school in my district I decided I didnt want to be there either. Not that I hated it but because I was so used to my other school and they ay they ran things that I couldnt accept the differences of my new school. Anyways, I'm back to my original high school this year and I'm facing the same situation with my old friends as well. If this year is just as terrible as your first year just think of how you got through it the first time and just try to stick with it. If you just take it one step at a time it will all be over before you know it. Whatever you do, dont let a terrible situation get in the way of your happiness cuz if you concentrate too much on the bad stuff you'll miss out on all the good stuff no matter how little there may be. One last thing, never give up no matter how bad it gets. You never really lose until you quit trying.

I understand completely how you felt your first year. My first year, I hated my school and like you I decided to transfer but unlike you I transferred to another HBCU. When I got to my new school I realized the problems that plagued me at my previous school were problems that I was expriencing at my new school. What changed for me was my interaction and involvement with my institution. At my current school, where I have been for the last three years, I have become involved on and off campus through several organizations and because of this investment of time and efforts, I have developed a deep love and respect not to mention spiritual connection to my school. I also was penalized for my transfer and will have to stay an extra semester but it was all worth it. You shouldn't feel bad for your decision to want transfer because if you had never transferred you would have never known whether the grasss was greener on the other side.

There's no problem in transfering to another/back to school, if its PWI or HBCU, you as a person have to see which one fits you. First year of college could be fun **** hell or wack, it's what'cha make it!!!!!! Don't never try too hard, you're in it for a degree but you also need a social life. the con's in transfer is always starting over and lossing them credits, but the pros, you meant new people and see who you are as a person/student, those are my two cents!!!!!!!!!!!
