Not tryin to burst anybody's "ego bubble," but people need to open their eyes and realize that the greeks did come to egypt and stole the egyptians civilization b/c egypt was the most civilized nation back in that day. I was taught in my philosophy class that the letters that are being used today for Greek-lettered organizations are straight from the egyptian alphabet. I was taught in one of my history classes that the Greeks borrowed the Egyptians culture and ways of life so they, too, can get civilized.
Message :!: That was for the greek detractors who are on this board.

Yeah, there's a GphiG plot on my campus, and around homecoming somebody comes back and paints it, but I dont think the chapter is active(grooves, get on ur bruhs in G-boro, tell em to get the chapter poppin again, heard they used to be crunk)...nonetheless I got respect for anyone's org, do what you do, but I think the trouble comes in when non greeks, try and down greek orgs, or automatically assume that we dont respect them, and thats where the problems come in....let the D-9 do us, and the rest of yall do yall....anyone interested, there's a good book called Black Greek 101, that gives a pretty good history of all the orgs that blacks have formed in this country, both D-9 and non d-9...

i have no problem with the greek orgs doin their thing. the problem comes in when members of greek orgs say that non-greeks (including my org) wanna be like the greeks or are tryin to be like them. esp. on grambling's campus theire are a lot of members of greek orgs that pledge and think they the Sh*t. they think that greek orgs are superior to every other org here. thats where my problem is. they might be the first black orgs that have accomplished so many things but non greeks do just as much as the greeks and maybe more. i just think that people be overlookin the nongreeks and some of their work overall, i dont have a problem with the greek orgs, just the people who represent them wrong.
God, u hit the nail on the head. I mean, the greek cats at my school don't act like their ish don't stank, and we get along and all. But in other places I'v been..... ....Let's just say that some folk need a CONSTANT reminder that not only were they not the FIRST ever orgs, but that their ideal for even doing the ish is just....off. And that's a sad thing.

They need to come back to Livingstone. No one comes by to paint the Groove plot here. :-( It's a mess. The chapter has been inactive for years.

I like the fact that Grove and Swing are proud to say that their letters are from the Egyptians instead of the ancient Greeks. I'd rather believe that i derieved from a african nation instead of a known "white" nation. Don't you thinkg that it's ironic that BGLO's derived from ancient Greciens instead of egyptians, and their so proud of it?

Actually BGLOs claim the egyptian heritage more than the Greek. Even my fraternity which was founded by whites and now has people of all color acknowledges its egyptian background.
