ACADEMICALLY ELITE HBCU???

I was just wondering which HBCUs are known to have the highest academic standards and best reputation for excellence? I did a little research on it before, but the only schools I can still remember are... Howard Morehouse Clark Spelman FAMU Hampton Dillard Stillman Xavier Tuskegee I know there were at least one or two more on my original list, but can't remember what they were. Any glaring omissions? Also, what academic area are these schools best known for? For example, I know FAMU has an excellent reputation for business. Finally, what are the top 2 or 3 HBCUs to attend for an education degree? I know that's a lot of info to ask for, but I have 3 or 4 friends considering attending HBCUs that are asking me for advice, and I don't know enough to tell them. Thanks in advance for any help.

Again, it only takes a Hamptonian to understand what Hampton offers. I'll leave it at that...then come back with an update 2 years from now  8) Its wild... how when someone talks about Hampton they have to include PWI's in an attempt to outshine our university, could it be that Hampton graduates come out as competition to PWI grads???...but that's another topic in itself. ....but anywho other than Hampton, there are a few other schools that I would consider prestigious black institutions. From my knowledge I'll include Howard, Spelman, and Morehouse. I believe I'm done with this topic

^^^ I will keep this very brief to respond to your question. You wanted to know names of distinguished graduates from Hampton University. Allow me... Class of 2003 Class of 2002 Class of 2001 Class of 2000 Class of 1999 Class of 1998 and all other classes that preceded these.... In other words, being a Hampton graduate and being a distinguished graduate are synonymous. I guess other than everyone, you want to know about Booker T. Washington, Spencer Christian, Rick Mahorn, Wanda Sykes, Vanessa Bell Calloway, the editor of Vibe Magazine, and COUNTLESS other prominent African Americans that serve as lawyers, judges, accountants, etc. all over the nation.

Geez.......what are you a Hampton **** or something  No one has a "delusional outlook" on Hampton....it's called school pride and the out right truth. Hampton is a good school that has produced many distinguished alumni (whether you've heard of them or not), just like other HBCUs. Stop drinking the haterade.....it hinders the mind. Another distinguished Hampton graduate: Nicole (after I pass the Bar in 5 years  )

WELL I HAVE TO SPEAK AS A HOWARD STUDENT. "THOUGHT"U SHOULD JUST WORRY ABOUT GETTING OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL. AND I HAVE HEARD THAT HAMPTON IS THE HARVARD OF THE SOUTH. BUT IS HAMPTON EVEN IN THE SOUTH. HAMPTON IS A REALLY GOOD SCHOOL THOUGH. NOW I DONT KNOW IF IT IS BETTER THAN DUKE. BUT IF THAT IS WHAT THEY CALL THEMSELVES THEN THATS WHAT THEY CALL THEMSELVES. THEY HAVE A FEW SCHOOLS THAT CAN BE CALLED THE HARVARD OF THE SOUTH. (XAVIER, FISK, DONT KNOW OF ANY OTHERS BUT I KNOW THERE MUST BE MORE)
