How Much Parental Advice?

I am venturing down the path of "Greekdom" with my college son. I have a few questions for you:
1) How much influence did either of your parents have on your decision once you were clearly approached?
2) Did you share everything with your parents?
3) If your dad was in one frat and your stepdad was in a different frat what would you do? Son is tight with both dads. (Girls...what if your mom/stepmom were in different sororities?)
I am honored to be close with my son but come fall '05 when he starts his sophomore year and at his school he can do this. Some frats have already approached him. I though you had to be a Junior at least huh?
I want to define my role a little bit better. Know my bounds and be correct on my info. (I have many friends in every frat/soro)
I am supportive of him becoming a member of a black fraternity. He is leaning on me for loads of advice because he does not want to offend or mislead either dad...he's cool like that.

I'll start a new thread... but first I have to tell you I have a group of HBCU students at the house. Us moms and them are going to dinner. It is our First Annual Welcome Home for the Summer Party. Again we all have Freshman, I mean Sophomores now.
Any way they ALL leaned over my shoulder and read this thread, some have been reading it since I opened the post a day or so ago. I was laughing at the posts from a couple of you this afternoon so they came to see what had me in stitches.
I will not divulge the majority of their comments. Some of them are quite "spicy" like you but, I will graciously say thanks for the laughs.
You will look back on your post one day and possibly learn what it is that is really bothering you, where your hate is coming from and why you are beside yourself with jealously. It really is not me. Just know that God and I love you!

College Mom there are two things I'd like you to consider.
1) Share the responses given in this thread with either of your husbands and garner their feedback about what you should do during your son's journey.
2) Don't underestimate the power and reach of the internet. If you've given out any correct information in any of your previous posts one could assume the following about your son.
HBCU in Maryland
Jack and Jill
From the Oakland/Bay Area
Smokes Weed
Stepdad is an Alpha.
Biological is probably a Sigma or an Iota.
Biological doesn't want son to be a Kappa or a Que.
I wish your son the best in all that he does but he'll never do any growing if you are taking all the lumps for him.
When will he stand upright and on his own if you are always there in the wings?

Son read this thread too...if you haven't figured it out: Nothing bothers him...He don't care what I post/post about him just so long as I don't name names...He know he bad. He's workin on it though...

He would blow stuff up bad. He only knows about the MEAC site(whew).
My hubby don't do the net. He thinks me goofy for using the net for anything besides cheap air fare...He says: "are you playing with your imaginary friends again?" :grin:
