I Got An Attitude About The...2005-06 Tuition Bill...Help!

Sigh... Just opened the mail. I got the the bill for my sons HBCU for the fall of 05 and the Spring of 06... I just ain't feelin it :-( Partna's grades were decent. He still been a handful this Summer but it just don't feel like it felt this time last year when he was going to be a Freshman. I am lookin at upwards of 25K for the tuition and fees...We put him in a spankin brand new apartment so that's another 6K. We gotta do about 4 or 5 round trip air fares...August, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break and Homecoming for me and the hubby... His spending money runs about 400 hundred a month which is another 4K...He don't got no new clothes or shoes so Im mo have to get him sumthin...Books and supplies is gonna be about 600 hundred cause he in the B school...We gotta ship all his stuff back which is another 300 hundred bucks...Partna wants us to ship his car as he is gonna get the B-mer in August...I gotta help him set up his apartment...This is the short list when I think of some other expenses for him... So, we talkin about...40K... Son will bring aproximately 3K to the table after his Summer work is done. We got it but, I just ain't motivated to break him off like this but, I ain't gonna fake on him...HELP.... Give me some inspiration, motivation...fo real! NO HATIN...thanks!

*note* Didn't read anything except the initial post (just yet at least). ...I don't know College Mom. I've been pretty quiet about everything up until now but something doesn't seem right.... Now... i'm not saying that what u tell us isn't true or that i don't believe you but the reason something doesn't seem right is because i'm beginning to realize that you are extremely invested, maybe a lil TOO invested in your son's life. According to everything that you've written (that i've read) he's an extremely blessed individual and i wonder if all of this involvment in his life will end up hindering him in the long run. I have a FULL ride down here at Morehouse and still don't have the pleasure of half the things he can experience money wise. No 4-5 trips for me... summer break-winter break thats it. No 400 dollar a month allowance... Thats what summer jobs since the age of 13 were for (and yes it was legal for those questioning the age i started working lol) No new clothes from mamadukes... gotta buy them myself. I'm still rocking the same two (now worn out) pair of adidas from late Sophmore year... i'm a senior now. Shippin is all on me as well... and i don't know how he's doing it but $300... damn thats alotta money to be shippin stuff. He needs to find a friend and leave sh*t in somebodies basement lol. Dude has a "B-mer"... shyeeeeet all i have is my 2 feet and like i said before i choose not to buy a new pair of kicks to aid my main mode of transportation lol Anyway... i don't know how old dude is but he has it good apparently. I'm not tryin to tell you how to raise ya son but you give the impression that dude is spoiled and is gonna end up struggling in the future. He needs to pick up some of that slack for himself. As far as i'm concerned u need to stop worrying bout the school and focus on him... (*correction* focus less on him... he gets way too much attention). Whether it be his endeavors in "pledging" or whatever. You need to let dude loose from the nest. Fiscally, he might be alright in the future... but i know cats like me have a hard time respecting a dude who can't stand on his own two feet or have enough respect to claim his manhood and do all of the above on his own. He's in college and its botu that time he learns that. I know u're prolly gonna say "he does" etc etc etc... but your post lead me and i'm sure others to believe otherwise... Not hatin at all, but something doesn't seem right... *k... on to read what everybody else wrote in this thread... forgive me if i was beign redundant.*
