I'm not a N*gga!!

Due to recent post and extreme use of the word I thought that I would make this post. I wrote a novel called "I'm not a n*gga", that explained the history of the word and how it has evolved and the power that it has had on our people. Well the overall purpose of that novel (really short story) was to tell why we shouldn't refer to each other as n*ggas and how it is hypocritical to get mad at another race for using it when you use it everyday. Everybody who knows me knows that I can't stand the word (just ask Wizdom and FAMU_first) I try to protest when ever I hear somebody using it but I find that I am often alone in my thinking and to many people it has just become another word, and it is often too energy consuming. I think there was a post like this before but, HOW DO Y'ALL FEEL ABOUT THE WORD N*GGA!

....white ppl often refer to themselves as crackers and make humor of their stereotypes (i can't dance i'm white, etc. etc.) .....some lesbians call themselves **** Ni9er wuz originally from the latin term for black and wasn't considered offensive til the 1800's WIGGA...AND...(the now ****) GHETTO **** because that is direct characterization of our race and is clearly negative but i do think ni99a is a word of context cuz there's a real difference in the msg of a mos def sayin ni99a or ghetto people than a Lil Wayne

i agree.... BAD CONTEXT: “Q: What do you call a ni99er on a bike? A: A thief.” GOOD CONTEXT: "I was at the court - chilin with my ****" Note, the very fact that this site censors the "N" word to "peeps" is rather funny all in its own!

^^^ good point, i mean to take that even further, why do blacks that dont like the N word listen to hip hop. that music does more to hurt the black race than a silly little word that presently isn't nearly as effective as it was even 30 years ago! i always find a way to bring hip hop into a discussion, im trying to start the hip hop reformation, i guess... if you dont like the N word, then you shouldnt like, Jay Z, 50 Cent, Lil Flip, P. Diddy, Biggy, 2 Pac, Ja Rule, Nas, Petey Pablo, Lil John, and a host of other hip hop pseudo[false]artists!!!! denfense?
I feel you on that, I think that hip hop has done a lot to harm to black community but I predict that it will be the vehicle that promotes change in the black community the same way. We don't have any leaders like we had 30 years ago and unfortunately our leaders today are all entertainers but the good thing is that once we actually get some leaders in the entertainment business the message will spread like wild fire. For example when entertainers come out with a new word, new clothing style, new hair style, everybody in the hood has caught hold of it within a few days. They have power and now they are unfortunately **** it. I am more of a slow jamz, oldies, neo-soul brotha myself but I must admit at times I do find myself listening to music with the n word in it. I approach it the same way I approach my brothas and sistas who say it around me everyday. I wish they wouldn't say it but I think I gain more sometimes by overlooking the word that the music as a whole. Take Tupac for instance, one of the most prolific rappers of all time. Said some of the most intelligent things I have heard come out of such a young soul, I really wish he wouldn't have used the n word but if I didn't listen to his music because of it I would have never got his message. Its sad but that's unfortunately the way it works.
When Pac used N1igga he used it saying... Never Ignorant Getting Goals Accomplished... And Just because someone is an entertainer doesn't mean they're a leader. Most people did the music thing as a way out of their current status and the people just labeled them as leaders and role models which most of them don't want to be called.

ok, so the thing about good context and bad context, and people saying that there is a difference between the word "ni99er" and "ni99a". All I'm saying is that it might be cool, big emphasis on the word might, if the word lost all of its initial meaning. Bottom line, people still use this word as a put down for black people. then with the word ni99a, why use it? If you got a homie, why don't u call him homie, or brotha, or anything. WHY DO BLACK PEOPLE STILL USE THE WORD NI99A??? That is the real question.
