The really messed up part is that the meterologist people have been predicting this event for more that a decade now. They knew the since it is below sea level that it has more than a 70% chance of being destroyed by flooding and high winds aka big **** ****. The evacuation solution looks really bad and the city board should have had a better plan than this. I really hope that every one leaves safe and the people who are saying are safe too... God bless everybody [-o<
more than a decade? try FOUR decades

Well you have to realize that some students have no choice but to stay. I go to Xavier and can tell you a number of students who couldnt get out. And those that are driving are driving everywhere and have found nothing because everything is booked up. Its plenty of students just driving from state to state trying to find shelter. Some reluctantly have gone back to Louisiana.

My best friend, who attends Xavier, left on Saturday and is staying with a friend in Houston right now... She is scared that all her belongings will be destroyed.

I had family come home to SC and one of my elderly uncles couldn't be transported b/c of oxygen tanks and not being able to sit in the car that long so we are worried about him.

We ran some "stolen" video from CNN this morning showing a reporter getting blew about 20 feet from where he was standing. It even showed how bad some of the interstates were flooding over in Mobile. Water almost covered up the interstate signs that are ABOVE 20 feet high!!! Damn.

Hey everybody. We're fine so far at Southern. The winds are strong, however and we lost power for a little while. We have some from SUNO up here. I'm worried about my family in Gulfport and Hattiesburg, MS.
