You know I couldn't resist this one...
I don't believe that the SAT exam itself is biased, although the circumstances behind it are.
It is known that schools in areas that are mainly low-income are generally lower quality than in wealthy areas. The reason for this is the fact that urban schools are located in areas with higher population and lower median income. As a result, they must serve more students with higher needs, with less available tax revenue. In these areas, Black and Latino students are usually the majority.
A recent study showed that standardized test performance of Black students in private schools and wealthier public school districts was equivalent to that of their White counterparts. So the problem mainly lies in poor-quality schools. The dilemma is that, as stated by others, urban schools are asked to do more with less, which is difficult if not impossible.
I think that economic class is becoming the new defining factor in American society. Those with wealth, or even moderate wealth, are best equipped to maintain and grow their assets, while those without are the least equipped to improve their situation. It is not impossible, though. It is for this reason that we must be more discriminating in our spending and investing. Holla!

And to HU_Queen, I say this an intellectual is one who is Endowed with intellect; having the power of understanding; having capacity for the higher forms of knowledge or thought; characterized by intelligence or mental capacity; as, an intellectual person. Now of course being intellectual doesn't mean book smarts, or even knowing your history, it is all about wisdom. Getting the point where you can think beyond what they want you to think. As for your grandmother, I can feel you because my grandmother is the same way. I learned my bad english from her, but I also learned how to remain faithful in times when everything is going arye. ( i thin that's how you spell it) This post is not a post to talk about shoulda, coulda, wouldas, but it is a free post, and people are just speaking their minds. And if we wanna talk neo-soul and going back to Africa, I don't see why that's a problem. And to what you said about "sipping lemonade and dreaming about the future" I find that is one of the most important problems us black folk have. WE NEED TO WAKE THE F*UCK UP!!!!
Don't get mad at me, I'm just speakin' my mind. I ain't tyrna provoke you or anything like that. We all intelligent people here.....no need to get ig'nant.
I think people misunderstood my "sipping lemonade thing" im saying that even though blacks now are wanting to make changes in the community etc.. they are straying from the ways we made changes back in the 60s...black people actually dreamed and hoped for better things, and wanted TO IMPROVE what was already there, instead of always focusing on the negative and complaining...it seems that even the ones who want to make changes all they do is focus on " blacks are awful", "blacks are ****"..etc etc etc...I mean i GO TO howard and of course we ALWAYS have these black forums but after awhile it gets sickening at seeing all the "self-hatred" being spewed out...you said blacks need to wake up, but to always hear hatred about your own race from every direction and saying "black kids are lazy, ghetto, stupid, cant speak english", it almost makes ya wanna go back to sleep and ignore all the hypocrisy and stupidity being emitted....but the greatest things in black history did not come from the slaves or the civil rights marchers degrading each other...it came from love AND ENCOURAGEMENT! AND ACTION...and thats all im saying we need more of that in the black communitY...
I love my people more than anything, but I am not going to pretend that WE (including myself) don't have certain problems. I am sorry if you misunderstood what I was saying before as "black bashing."
I'm not Bill Cosby........

im not saying you should pretend we dont have problems, but too truly improve those problems, you dont heal it with hate....just as i said before, in the 60s we made much more advancements when we encouraged each other and didnt focus ALL THE TIME on the negative within our race, but outside as well...and we always talk about bad education, black neighborhoods this and that, but those decisions that affect us are mainly made by bureaucratic white people...and we are doing exactly what those politicians are wanting us to do, fight amongst ourselves and bring our people down OURSELVES so nothing is getting done...lol and please dont think I was accusing you of black bashing, i know completely where ya coming from

And I agree about what you said about the 60s, black folk knew how to love each other back then. I don't know what these ni99a's is doin' nowadays. I am not saying all, but it seems like not many people care about the race anymore, they just lookin' out for themselves and that's it.
