i am not looking for respect as a "true greek" because as a sweetheart i am not greek i have a letter and a heart...
it was fun.. we did service... we didnt sleep with the bruhs... but depends on the school...
What sweetheart org are you a part of?
I've visited a school that has an frat called Sigma Rhomeo...
I also know a woman who's a omega "gem" and I asked her about it when she wore her jacket one day but she didn't elaborate on it too much. It was almost like she didn't think I would understand... :?

Yes, some schools have Rhomeos...in NC ECSU has some I believe...they are cool with me...
I've never seen a Aux with a jacket....hmmmm

This is genuine curiosity. My mom is Zeta but she has a negative view of yall's Doves and is therefore biased. Disregard this question if yall do not acknowledge Doves

Off topic....how did moms feel when you became a AKA?....lol
Dang who dug this thread up??? Wasn't nothing she could really say or do. My mind was made up 8)
Im actually a member of an auxilliary organization.
I'm a Sigma Dove(Fall '04) and I feel that why aux groups get so much down talk from people who aren't involved in them is because no one has really taken time to find out what they are for. Everyone is really quick to classify us as "groupies" to the frat but its quite the contrary. My big brothers of Phi Beta Sigma on our yard respect us and treat us like true little sisters. We went through a pledging process just like any other greek org so why can't we get similar respect. I can see where people come from when they say we're not greek but if you think about it we actually are in a sense because we have a greek letter (greek is greek whether its 3 letter or 1 letter) and we pledge too. I don't know about other auxillaries but Sigma Doves pledge in order to understand the basic fundamental principles of PBS. We help them with events and such and we also help the boys during their intake process.
We DON'T sleep with the frat
We DON'T clean and do all that other dumb "maid" stuff
We DON'T do anything that would degrade us in anyway shape or form
During our process we are taught the values of finer womanhood and how to always be a lady and uphold a good name for ourselves. So I dont know where all this groupie stuff came from but I want to set the record straight because that is not what we are.
As far as the sorority relationship goes...its questionable and it varies from yard to yard. Yes, Zeta Phi Beta is constitutionally bound to Phi Beta Sigma so they are their true sisters. I will always aknowledge that. Some Zetas like us, some don't. I think the ones who don't like us don't like us because they don't know or understand why we're their. I think anyone who is greek and questions the purpose of aux groups needs to enlighten themselves and stop using their ignorance as an excuse because I'm sure we all know what excuses are...
Anyway, I respect the Zetas very much and I would never overstep my boundary as a dove because I recognize that we are a small part of the fraternity. However we are a helpful part and that is what a lot of people tend to overlook. What a lot of people fail to realize(even some Zeta's) is that many Zeta's started out as Doves! Somewhere along the line, something happend and the tightness that the Blue and White family had sort of disinigrated between Zeta's and doves.
I've heard that other sororities don't really mess with aux groups either. It also depends on the campus. My position on that is this: The organizations you join dont make the person you are, you make the organization. I feel that aux ladies who decide to join sororities are even more of an asset because of the information they know and have learned that could better the sorority.
Basically what I'm saying is that NO, we are not groupies, hoes, or maids. We have distinct purposes and we carry them out as we should. For those who dont know, now you know.

The Divine Nine of the NPHC are non-HAZING organizations if those are the "other greek org" that you are talking about. And even if you had a process does not mean that you will get respect from everyone.

You're not greek.
Here's the definition of Auxiliary-1) Giving assistance or support; helping. 2)Acting as a
subsidiary; supplementary
Definition of subsidiary-1) Serving to assist or supplement; auxiliary. 2)
Secondary in importance; subordinate.
So basically you are a support group it looks like =-)
