It is very hard when you are a dark skinned girl...hell a boy too, depending on where you live. As I grew up, I used to hang out with a lot of light skinned girls. They got a lot of attention and it bothered me. I had a major problem with my complexion as I grew up. I finally accepted my complexion and didn't care if someone wouldn't talk to me because of it. It was their lost. But living in Chicago, it wasn't that hard to get play. The dudes started paying me attention regardless of my complexion. My light skinned friends got more attention than I did, but it didn't matter too much to me. When being in the south, I think the complexion is more important to some people. I think it is the mentality that the closer to white the more beautiful from way back in the **** ways.
I know that some light skinned girls don't like the attention that they get sometimes, but they don't get negative coments, unless they are **** as hell. I have seen some girls that were light skinned, pretty eyes, long hair, big a$$ foreheads, and buck teeth pull some fine dudes. They were no where near cute but they got attention just because they had those "beautiful" features. But if a guy will pass me up just because I don't have the lighter complexion, then it is someone that I don't want to be with.
