It is very hard when you are a dark skinned girl...hell a boy too, depending on where you live. As I grew up, I used to hang out with a lot of light skinned girls. They got a lot of attention and it bothered me. I had a major problem with my complexion as I grew up. I finally accepted my complexion and didn't care if someone wouldn't talk to me because of it. It was their lost. But living in Chicago, it wasn't that hard to get play. The dudes started paying me attention regardless of my complexion. My light skinned friends got more attention than I did, but it didn't matter too much to me. When being in the south, I think the complexion is more important to some people. I think it is the mentality that the closer to white the more beautiful from way back in the **** ways. I know that some light skinned girls don't like the attention that they get sometimes, but they don't get negative coments, unless they are **** as hell. I have seen some girls that were light skinned, pretty eyes, long hair, big a$$ foreheads, and buck teeth pull some fine dudes. They were no where near cute but they got attention just because they had those "beautiful" features. But if a guy will pass me up just because I don't have the lighter complexion, then it is someone that I don't want to be with.

Same here....When I was younger I wasn't the cutest person. I wasn't groomed yet. Now I think I'm tight. But I always had light skinned friends (or I just was the darkest person in any given setting). People always had a black joke or something...I think it is a Northern thing....Like a sub-conscious thought...It reminds me of slavery when the dark skinned people would have to toil outside and sleep in little shacks but the light skinned folk slept in the house and enjoyed their work conditions...The light skinned people then looked down on the darker slaves...>That mentality remains until this day....Light skinned people just have adopted the mentality that the world sees them as beautiful and the dark people as **** or inferior...No matter how ****-eyed or **** a light skinned person can be they feel they have one up on everybody....In the South, dark skinned people are treated equal as far as dating....I mean since I been in the Gump I feel alot more comfortable appraoching females and they don't mind getting at me either whereas in Saginaw I had to make moves on the low.....Crazy world isn't it?

It was weird cause i was talkin to this dark skin girl and she was like out of no where " I wish i was light skin", and Im like for what? She went on to say that light girls have it so much easier and that I wil never know the hardships dark girls go through. I dont know that just tripped me out that such importance whould be placed on skin color.
Something like that happened to me too...a female that I know was tellin me that she wishes she was light skin and she was tellin me that I was lucky to be light skin, I mean I am light skin and I ain't knockin nobody else that is but I wish people would stop actin like all light skin people are attractive because I have seen some hit up light skin people  . Some females I know have even asked me dumb questions like" I bet u only hang around light skin girls?" :x ...that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard...I mean if some is cool then they are cool I don't care what complextion they are.
