....aiight, so I see people starting free posts all the time, I figure I can do it too. Only twist is, if you gon' post something......let it be intellectual (i.e nothing about a party, grad nite, or shout-outs) something tells me this post is gon' die quickly....... :roll: oh well, i gave it a shot!

Good point...I think when we come together as a unit we will eventually realize that we are the same as our brethen in Africa. A prime example we should follow: the Asians. They are about their business while still enjoying life. They stick together and that is why their communities are not impoverished like blacks and latinos... True true. It's just that they (white people) have given us a mentality as to what to think about Africans (whether black people would choose to realize that they are being controlled, I don't know). They see them as being primitive people so we should see them the same way. In actuality though they are some of the smartest people in the world. I know at my school they are certainly some of the hardest working folks. It's almost like the education that we would take for granted is the same education that they are willing to bend over backwards for. Like natuaralqt said we can't even get along within out own race, so how are we going to get along with another group.

as far as I am concerned, Africans are really going it big. Like abstract stated before, they are usually the brightest of the bunch. I think as African Americans, we could learn alot from our African brothers and sisters. don't hate! congratulate!

The fact that American blacks and Africans have yet to come together in unity is really a sad one. But I think both sides have to be blamed for this. Just like you may here black people making fun of Africans, I've seen how many Africans tend to look down on blacks. Before Africans come to this country all they really know of blacks is what they see on tv and hear in the news and we all know that's nothing positive in most cases. This causes them to think that all blacks are what they see on the tv screen. This works the same way in how many blacks form their opinions of Africans. I think in order for both groups to join together we all have to throw the stereotypes out of the window.

im still waiting to hear some of the ideas as to how we plan to reverse the present system of behavior in the african american community. how do we tend to change all of these sad stories into stories of worth being proud of? some of my suggestions >> Get rid of all forms of projected-racism found in commercial hip hop >> Black developed/supported education systems that stem beyond HBCUs; we need black elementary schools and high schools. >> decrease/elimante the epidemic of teenage parenting. Bold yes. Impossible, no!

If we really look at it in depth, single parent homes are a large reason that we are in the situation that we are in. On one hand, it psychologically alters the mindset. Children in that situation may harbor a lot of resentment toward the missing parent. They are also more likely to have low self-esteem (not saying that it is the case for all people in that situation). Low self-esteem contributes to the ****, drug use, the pregnancy rate and everything else. When you have low self esteem then everything that looks cool (the videos where people are flossin like crazy) you're automatically going to look at it like it is the greatest thing ever.
