Me and my friends have compiled a list of things that we wanted to know about sororities but we're too afraid to ask... I tried to make sure that the questions were appropriate -- but if some aren't jus disregard them and i apologize in advance... the SGRhos have on their Howard website that you can pledge with 12 hrs under your belt -- what if you're a first time freshman with 12 hrs first semester(cuz you took college classes during hs)? can you pledge than (if you so choose) even though Howard requires you to be a sophomore? Are the AKAs on Howard's campus? Do the Delta's cross anything less than 30? (that question comes from a rumor we heard) Is it possible to be ready to pledge second semester of your freshman year? What exactly is blackballin? Is it badd to wear a particular sorority's colours? Even if it isn't intentional? If you are a legacy for a certain sorority (because your mom is one) will another sorority not let you pledge? Okay that's all of it -- I'm sorry in advance if these questions have alreadi been answered and for it being long. Also thanx in advance to anyone who takes the time to answer my questions

I am NOT greek, but since I am the closet that you will get to a response. One prospect to another, REMEMBER: DISCRETION IS KEY. Most Sorority members will NOT give out personal information about their organization on the internet. I encourage you to do a lot of research...READING IS KEY. Although, you might not mean that you are even interested in XYZ, I would encourage you to change your username. One sorority, in particular, might find the "08" part offensive. This is my little spill, I do not mean any harm, but I sure hope that it was helpful. Please feel free to PM me 8)

most organizations require 30 credits before you can even be considered for the process. If your a transfer student you will need atleast 15 credits from the previous school, and 15 from the current.

^^^ I couldn't help but see the comment above abotu changing the username because 08 is in it. Personally, I feel that there should be no problem with her having 08 on the end of her SN because nobody has a monopoly on numbers. I'm the class of 06 at MH but none of the Alpha's had a problem with us reppin our class. Now if we did the call they have with 06 in it that would be another story. No one should be that petty to trip off your screen name.

^^^ you're right Poody...someone was just a little too excited to respond. Now if she had something like "Ivy08" that would be a little suspect.

misshu08...to answer ur last two questions: if your legacy of one sorority and you wanna plege another you still can however, only AKAs have the whole legacy thing which mainly serves to help you get on line becuz you have preference and about the whole color thing. i wouldn't recommend making a habit of wearing a certain sororities colors consistantly but no...no one is gonna be lookin to make sure your not wearin their colors cuz that would take a lot of effort ot make sure that you never wear red and white together pink and green etc...however pink and green you don't see all the time. But yea..don't sweat it, cuz at Hampton you cross a lot of the organizations and a lot of them have colors, signs, calls, etc. So when u do get to school u wanna make sure ur not foolin around and throw somethin up unintentionally.

^^^ Actually pink and green is all you see in stores now days. I still feel uncomfortable wearing that color combination, esp. at school because I know it links back to the AKAs. Definitely don't wear there colors to a rush or something of that nature. You will get called out.

True, "08" might not be offensive to one AKA, but another might find it offensive. That is why I try always put strong emphasis on the word MIGHT. You would think that people would NOT be that petty, but I have met some petty people. For instance, someone might NOT even be interested in becoming an AKA, but they have a lot of pink and green outfits. Well, if they walk around campus with that on, one AKA might say something mean. Whereas, another might just say "OOOh, I love those colors you have on!" YOU NEVER KNOW
