University of Michigan, Spelman, or Howard??

I've been accepted to all three, but I'm having an extremely difficult time deciding between the three schools. My brain is telling me to go to the University of Michigan because it's a national ranked top 25 university, my heart is telling me to go to spelman b/c of the sisterhood, and my pockets are telling me to go to Howard b/c I received a full ride. Is anyone familiar with any of these schools? I would love to hear other peoples experiences.

Go with Howard if you have a full scholarship. Less debt to deal with after school. Smile

i'll have to disagree. i've been told this numerous times; don't go to a school because it's highly ranked. you can even say the same thing about the free ride; you wanna make sure that the school you go to is one that you can easily adjust to and feel comfortable in.

Well we can't help you in that regard...that is something that YOU have to determine. Personally, I would tell you to select Howard. PWC's are good for graduate study but an HBCU experience undergrad is great! Howard trumps spelman because we have more students and alumni, making for a larger networking community, we have more to offer in regards to athletics, clubs, organizations and academic (graduate and undergraduate) programs.

All of your choices are excellent. Personally, I think the HBCU experience is something you will never forget. Therefore, I recommend Spelman or Howard University, especially if you can attend on scholarship. Spleman and Howard are great HBCUs that will challenge you academically. Since your heart is at Spelman, I would attend there, if you receive a scholarship. However, if you don’t get a full ride, you should attend Howard University. Based upon some of your previous post, I am sure you plan to attend graduate school. Therefore, I would save the University of Michigan for graduate studies. Honestly, the University of Michigan is very accommodating for minorities at the graduate level so you will be ok. I agree. Hb412, have you made visits to any of these campuses? If not, I strongly recommend you do. Each visit will give valuable insight into how good of a match a school is.
