Historically black colleges and universities (HBCU�s) have contributed to American History. There was a time when blacks were not allowed to go to colleges or universities with whites. HBCU�s were created for blacks so that they would have a place to go to continue their education. Some of the world�s greatest history makers are products of HBCU�s. I believe that those history makers would not have made such a strong impact if they had not attended an HBCU. Some families have attended or graduated from HBCU�s for generation after generation. These are young men and women who want to continue their family legacy. HBCU�s give hope to those students who may not be at the top of their class, but want to attend a good college and get their degree. When you attend an HBCU you know that you are going to get the nurture you need to succeed even after graduation. HBCUs can bring out the best in you and create special relationships that will last a lifetime.
