Historically Black Colleges and Universities have made a superb
contribution to American history. One of the many obstacles African
Americans faced was the ability to be educated. African Americans were
not given the opportunity to be educated. Blacks were viewed as unworthy
people and to many blacks did not deserve to have any type of education.
An education is the key to success and many black leaders were not going
down with out a fight. The black population yearned to be educated and
that is the very reason we are blessed with HBCUs today. HBCUs gave and
continue to give african americans the opportunity to make a difference
and allow us to HOPE for a better tomorrow. HBCUs have the ability to
show others as well as OURSELVES that African Americans are intelligent
and capable of making something positive out of our lives.
