Curse words...Do you believe?

The words themselves are not bad it's just the context in which people have used them in over the years that has made them bad.

Well I think its from society giving words like *b*tch* a different meaning.People use these words to disrespect and as put downs. This is a matter of ethics and morals.

Yeah, any word can be bad depending on how society wants to use it. For example, "blouse and skirt" is a curse in Jamaica. Now who in tha hell would think they were being cursed out in the US if someone said that to them...no one (unless they know patois).

Blouse and skirt!?!? Seriously, I don't believe curse words are a sin. I highly doubt that many of the words we consider to be curse words were even around during that time. The only one that is probably a sin is God-d#$%*t. "Thou shalt not use the lord's name in vain."

I think that curse words r a sin, cursing is a sin, unclean speech is a sin Colossians 3:8 "But now really put them all away fro you, wrath, anger badness, abusive speech, and obscene talk out of your mouth." Ephesians 5:3, 4 " Let fornicatin and uncleanness of every sort. . .not even be mentioned among you, just as it befits holy people. Neither shameful conduct nor foolishtalking nor obscene jesting, things which are not becoming" Ephesians 4:29 "Let not a rotten saying not proceed out of your mouth." yeah we ain't supposed 2 take the lord's name in vain(whether u talkin bout jehovah or jesus") and we ain't supposed 2 use bad speech, & like the "blouse and skirt" thang just proved, bad speech is relative 2 ya culture, like "bomoclothe" is a bad word in Jamaica, but here it's like ? u just wanna remember who u representing when u talk. it's otha words in the english language (like 300,000) that u can use to get ya point across than the dozen or so curses just my humble opinion

So, if that's the case you mean to tell me there are no standardized curse words... How exactly will the lord distinguish between American curse words and Italian ones? Are they weighted the same way? If I were to go to France and use an American curse word, is it still a curse word? Curse words are an issue of moral preference. My roommate believes that words such as dikk and pu$$y aren't curse words, but I do. Does that mean if he uses them, he's not sinning, but if I do, I am? I'm sorry, but I just can't bring myself to believe that the Lord is too worried about what words are coming out of my mouth so long as what I have in my heart is right.

I'm horrible with cursing. When I moved out of my grams house I just went crazy. I've toned down, but I still got a ways to go before I eliminate it from my vocab.

Yes its hard to stop cursing....cuz when you start you can't stop! I try not to curse, but sometimes I have those days when I just can't help it! Yes I believe its a sin because its foul language, you didn't hear God, or Jesus saying F**k anybody or S**t to anybody in the BIBLE :!: You just have to pray on it and ask God to help you stop, and to forgive you for it!
